Hey, Rev. If that glider is in good shape, I know there are some electric car guys who'd like to buy it. Put it up on eBay, The EV Tradin' Post, or diyelectriccar.com and you'll probably get a quick sale.

 glider= unpowered craft...he's talking about the shell. I'm familiar with the term as it relates to trucks. You can buy a 'glider kit' which is basically a brand new truck with no engine, transmission, or rear axles. It used to be more common than it is now, but there's a resurgence as owners try to dodge the new emission regs.

    Only one new pic today

Took the block and head to a machine shop to make sure they're both flat...they are :D Brought it back home , degreased and gave it a coat of SteelIt. Now we're just waiting on parts.

A very familiar color to me, Cummins beige :) In fact, this was the OE color on B-series Cummins engines

  • RevmaynardRevmaynard Council Member
Thanks man, I love how the block/tranny look. I think the VC came out nice, too. It's a little darker in person.
  • bam-bambam-bam Council Member
...think I'll paint the head, too, just to match.
  • RevmaynardRevmaynard Council Member
Haha, that'll work. I hope I can atleast get my bay clean enough to match the engine. LOL

  • bam-bambam-bam Council Member
Hell, I'd just about pay you to let me do this part. Except for making me miss my Dad intensely, it's enjoyable to me.

This one will be tight and quiet...all the tolerances are on the good end of the acceptable range

Damn man, did some work! I thought you'd be busy with the ride. lol

Going to get a flange tomorrow. He wanted $90 more for the whole cat. lol But he said it'd be the header side. Charlie is going to bring the GSR mani to me tomorrow at the V!
  • bam-bambam-bam Council Member
Ride was rained out. This thing will be ready to install by the weekend.
  • RevmaynardRevmaynard Council Member
Let me know if you want me to drop my car off so you can use the harness. Thanks a lot man. I'll come out there Friday and Sunday night so I can lend a hand. :)

A little more progress, got the oil pump and rear main seal and pan on, then flipped 'er over and did the head and cams. Got stopped by this:

    91.jpg

got the wrong water pump...no wonder the timing belt wouldn't fit! Both of the other LS motors sitting here have 19 tooth pumps so was the one off of this engine. The replacement I got has 22T. wtf? We'll figure it out tomorrow.
  • RevmaynardRevmaynard Council Member
Lame. The waterpump was for a 95 LS he said. Got the GSR exhaust manifold today and I could only get the front flange that meets the exhaust manifold.

Aw, I'm having some fun... but I am ready to finish up!
Pics from the last couple of days:

    158.jpg

I decide to cut the front mount off. Didn't do mine and it looks like ass

    159.jpg

    160.jpg

Went ahead and did the "bottle cage bolt mod" while it was easily accessible

    161.jpg

...and tightened up the FITV (cleaned the EACV too.)

    162.jpg

and made a big ol' mess with wiring harnesses :P

    163.jpg

    164.jpg

Would've had it in the car, but found out the clutch release bearing spring was FUBAR. Hopefully I can get one from the stealership manana.
