Idling concern

Lately i've noticed that when my car is idling, it sounds like a mini diesel truck. Kinda weird and makes me think there is something that needs adjusting. Thanks for looking (and hopefully replying!)

could you elaborate a bit? so when it makes the dieseling sound do the rpms go up and down. like jump up and down?

Not much to elaborate on. RPMs don't jump around at all. Nice and steady.

Now that you say that, I do smell a hint of "eau de exhaust" when I roll the window down. I'll check for leaks. Thanks! A good excuse to buy that new exhaust eh?

Nothing to worry about. My 1st EF Civic HB sounded like that.My theory was the previous owner NEVER adjusted the Valves(85K miles).During that first year I must have adjusted the valves 3-4 times. It got better, but always had that diesel sound(a clicking sound like a diesel or valves really out of adjustment).Car worked fine, got good mileage, passed the Calif smog tests & had 200K when the clutch finely went(got 1OOK on that clutch).
