Band Wagon
Hi Everyone,
I think the last time I was here was in 2012 when I needed help finding my cold start relay.
Problem solved!
Here's some history on my wagon:
I bought my red 1990 Honda Civic Wagon RT4WD back in October 1993 with 66k-miles.
It had part-time commuting duty until 2002 and since then only 3k-miles/year carrying my bicycle and being my rainy day car.
There's a little over 249k-miles on the odometer. The car is pretty much original and unmodified, with the exception of tires and
normal maintenance items like an alternator, plugs, water pumps and timing belts, front axle/CV assembly, and an exhaust manifold.
I replaced the original 175/75 R14 tires with 185/60 R14 and never considered changing back.
As far as I remember even the headlight bulbs are original. The engine/heads have never been open, perhaps due to my religious use of Mobil-1.
The engine leaks a little oil - probably the o-ring at the distributor. I think less than 1/4 quart in 5k-miles. Passes the CA smog inspections.
There are some bugs to be sure, like parking/ignition interlock relay is slow in cold weather, the radio crackles, the rear washer doesn't spray.
The biggest problem is the transmission. When the car/transmission is cold I have to drive like a sportmatic. I start in [2] then manually
shift into [D] when the tach is at 4K. I'm guessing the problem is with one or both of the solenoids external to the transmission body.
The drivers seat has the usual tear in the side bolster, not too bad.
The wagon is still hella fun to drive on twisty roads, and the visibility is great especially in poor weather. but....
I'm here because I'm considering selling my car to get something that's a little larger.
I would like to sell the car to an enthusiast because so much of my car is complete and unmolested.
I'll post something in the marketplace forum very soon.
I could use some help with posting photos. Are there some free websites that are easier than photobucket?
Cheers,
Alex
