HELP Please. Unsolved wheel noise!
If this thread has already been discussed then I am sorry, I've searched threw many thread all leading to bad wheel bearigngs etc and in my case the wheel bearing isn't my issue. So the I'll take it from the beginning.
So one day I was driving and heard a really faint squeeling/chirp noise, I didn't really think nothing of it because after a little while of driving, maybe 10 minutes, it would go away and I wouldn't hear it until the engine was cold again, so it seemed.
Over time, as the weeks go on and I daily drive to and from work, around town, out of town etc. The noise became louder and sounding like a metal to metal contact squeel, or like a bad belt or somthing, so I began looking into it and tried to replace all the peices I thought would have been the issues. Here's a list of brand new parts that I have installed.
- brand new alternator
- brand new belts
- wheel bearing, and hub assembly
- rotors and pads were changed maybe 3 months prior to hearing the noises
- cv axle
- recent oil change(not sure if that matters)
- I check the little brake pad clips to see if they were making contact with the rotor but they don't seem to not from what I can see.
- pads have a lot of life left and no where near the little low brake noise tab thing.
- rotors don't seem to have and strange grooves in them.
I forgot to mention it is coming from the front driver side wheel area, sounds like it's on the other side of where my pedals. Or in the wheel well area.
Status of the noise currently.
It seems to fade in and out sometimes after really long distant drives. Cold or hot it is pretty consistent when it comes to making the squealing noise. The noise is heard as the wheel rotates. When the car speeds up the noise goes faster and when I slow down, Yeah it slows down aswell. At really low speeds the noise isn't loud but you can hear a very quiet metal to metal sounding squeek.
The noise is driving me insane. And the entire time I'm driving that's all I hear and think about. I don't know what else it could be. I have replaced the brake pad clips, I just reused the old ones so idk if those are it. I'm not sure what else to look for. Please someone else in getting desperate here.
thank you!
