88 rear hubs/trailing arm on a 89-91 RT?

I have searched this site and other sites and I am seeing conflicting info. Need to know whether a 88 rear RT hub/trailing arm is the same as 89-91 RT. I know the 88s have some different pieces. I have a trailing arm, so I really just need to know if the 88 hub will mount correctly.

Thanks,

I am pretty sure it's only the transmission/clutch n fly is that is different, and that the rear diff and axles are the same.

Anyone else have have concrete facts?!
  • Thanks for the response. I would love for someone to be able to say for sure on this. I am surprised no one seems to know.

Honda has them listed as the same part number. I don't see why they would not interchange.

The 88 did have a different lower arm that the shock bolts to. It used the Integra type r style with the shock having the eyelet. Where the 89-91 the shock has a fork around the lower arm.

yeah, but the mounting point on the car chassis and on the trailing arm are identical. it's all about the 91 crx/civic si rear LCAs with sway mounts anyways. run that with the customized ST rear away and you'll love yourself for investing in its handling!

If it's the same part number I think you're set!

if for some weird reason it doesn't work, I'd reply here for others in the future. and if it works if do the same just to be 100% sure!

    good luck!

I had always wondered what the best method was to add a rear SB. Good info, thanks!

With regards to the rear swaybar, I wouldn't agree that automatically you need one. It is something that should be matched with the springrates of your suspension. It is an item that can make your wagon VERY tail happy.
