I was just talking to someone the other day about the idea of re-coating the underbody once I clean up my rust and then running it year round. I took it out a few weeks ago with our first snow and it was a blast! Now shes cleaned and up for the winter.
That semi video was so funny. I was cringing every time he launched and hit the end of the tow rope. I was really expecting him to rip something off at some point.
Had to do that last winter when my wife slid off the road. Fortunately, she wasn't driving a semi! When I put the snow tires on and engage the RWD, I put the straps and chains in the back.
I've been running the General Altimax Arctic for the last few years. Very highly rated by Tire Rack and very reasonably priced. I've been VERY happy with them.

Before that, I ran Firestone Winterforce. Also a very good tire at a reasonable price.
