Band Wagon
Hi all,
Im Bill from md and i just recently picked up this RT4WD for cheap in an attempt to save it. I'm going to be chronicling my adventure trying to sort out some of the previous owners "Improvements" (i use the term lightly) but it is a 91 5 speed, d16z6 swapped and the transmission, engine and 4wd seem to be in very good order.
I dont have too much Honda experience ive done some work on a eh hatch, I mainly deal with the older watercooled VW's, so this should prove to be a learning experience!
On to the pics!
The bad stuff: Broken rear window, Broken driver window regulator (already got one), speedometer doesn't work, but that all pales in comparison to the attempted "Wire tuck" on the car....
obd 0 to 1 harness... what a mess. Throws a vtec pressure sensor code.. because the wire wasn't attached to anything..
Crimp connectors.. exactly what we want to see in the harness.
Engine bay box stuffed under the dash.
No idea what this is going to, but its hot and is exposed, coming from AC fuse on the box (ac is removed.. along with heater core.. why....)
wires jumped with a 2 foot long piece for no reason...
power distribution! First major thing being addressed. Battery was moved to trunk.
Bad ground which prevented the car from starting when I looked at it.
Wipers? Just cut it.
Same with the reverse lights.
Anybody know what these are to??
Then on to the body:
Creased hood.
Bumper Gap
Bacon Fenders.
The good stuff??
d16z6 a bunch of aftermarket parts, no pcv hose? I found one in the glove box with the nipples and plugs...
Brake lines tucked
Hidden prop valve
F&F type 2, adjustable Uca's and toe rods.
Parts found in the back seat. Diff mounts and crossmember bushings
Speaker pods no grills.
Some random seats??
I think this is going to be my best friend through this project

Welcome to the wagon life!!
Will be a great car with a little love!
All front harnesses re-done and re routed.
Ripped out all of the old power cables. This was the connection between the battery, fuse box and alternator... Quality Work.
Finished rerouting and wrapping everything in the cabin, moved the fuse box and put some power distribution blocks.
had some down time waiting on parts so I refinished the wheels.
Polished them up after that.. apparently didn't take a picture.
Rewired the wipers, they work except the intermittent. Car came with an extra wiper switch so I'm going to check that.
Next i have to make a battery mount in the trunk.. nothing seems to fit beside the trap door thing for the spare.
Then it needs a ball joint and replacing differential mounts. Going to fit a universal heater/defroster under the dash.
I agree that some crimps may not be a big deal, however when i went to start the car go move it into the shed, it would not start because one of the wires had came free from the crimp. I gave the few crimped wires a tug and 2 of them came right out. That was when I decided any wiring that had been touched was going to be redone.
Oh well that isn't any good haha.

Found more bad connections further down in the distributor harness. Just twisted together and taped. No more code 8!
