ZC Boost & ECU

Sup guys, I just finished my ZC DOHC M/T swap into my 90 2wd wagon last weekend. I LOVE the difference in power and fun to drive factor . My old D15 A/T was a slug. I was wondering if anyone has boosted a DOHC ZC. I looked around but everyone is Boosting SOHC D16's, Also what harness mods are required to change to obd 1? I think I am using a re-flashed PM-6, but on the decal it looks like someone purposely scratched the PM-_ then sharpeed ZC ECU over the #'s. Car runs great just confused if obd 1 will pnp. I have a PM-6, will that run a DOHC engine? I already moded the harness at the ECU for the DPFI to MPFI and also the cam pos. sensor, will this change work with other ECU,s?

if you need i have a DOHC ZC PM7 ECU that i got out of an EDM CRX Si. the advantage over thr JDM EDU is that there is no govenor on it
  • Wago dude, were nearly nieghbors! I saw that you had a PM-7 for sale in the parts section, but I wasn't sure if the ECU's were DOHC specific. How much do you want for it? how much different is it than PM-6?

im not sure what the difference is, but i heard that the PM7 on a SOHC like a D16A6 makes it run rich, so im assuming a PM6 makes a DOHC run lean? anyways, i had the PM7 on my car a little bit when i was working on my MPFI and it ran and everything but it was richer i think cause it smelled more gasoline-ish and errr smoked a bit. basically though it just helps your DOHC car to run better. haha.

i think i was asking $100 for it.

Greenville isnt too for actually, well.. maybe a little haha its like what, 3 or 4 hours from Savannah?
  • I thought I saw that you were listed in Aiken back when I joined, Anyway I will have to wait a little bit but I would like to get it from u. DO you Know if the connections are different on OBD 1 ECU?
  • The dohc ecu is more rich. I had one in my dd for a little while and it felt a little better to my rear.

A friend of a friend is now running it in his track car and gained about 1 second with it. It also backfires now when there is a quick transition from throttle to brakes (aka all the time on the track).
  • Check your EDM PM7 first to make sure you can chip it.

In the UK ours are not chipable so we take the ECU from a similar car called the Rover which has two versions. The one with CAT is chipable with one without is not. These are called PP4 or PP5 but essentially identical to the PM7 as the Rover uses the Honda engine.

The JDM PM7 CRX Si ECU is chipable. It also runs a CAT.
The UK CRX does not run a CAT.

    Se the similarities ?

I can't speak 100% for the Euro ECU's but I'm pretty sure that they are the same.
But, with CAT = chipable. No CAT = not chipable.

IIRC a USDM PM6 (a chipable one, again I think you have two versions?)will run the code from a JDM PM7, or certainly you can copy the fuel & ign maps across with turboedit etc.
  • Why no Boost? I dont Know of anyone with a turbo on a ZC. Whats up wit dat? I'm not sure if wago dudes pm7 is chippable or not. Is it possible to remap pm5,6,7? Thats what it looks like someone did with the one I have.
  • PM6 or PM7 will run a ZC motor.
Hell I plan to run a D16A6 on a PW0 ECu whichwas designed for a B161engine. It makes no difference if you can create the map to make it run correctly.

If you look at open Turboedit then I'd suggest a PM7 or in the UK a PP4 and run the NG60 code to make your life easier. BRE can also edit NG60 code, but it works better with PW0 and I'm more used to that ECU hence my use of it.

    BRE rocks.

    JDM Speedcut = 180KM/h
    EDM Speedcut = 222KM/h

    :P

I don't even know if the wagons can get to 222km/h on stock power/weight/aerodynamics.
  • No chance (I've tried).

Speed cut easily removed in mapping software anywho.
  • Yeah I have too. At 160 (100mph) i have to let up though and this is only done on a good straight flat part of the autobahn.

    pansy :P
  • This is only because I think the car is about to fall apart. If I need to go fast I will hop in the nissan (237kmh pansy) 8)
  • Once the boost is in I'll head over to the Autobahn and set the shuttle world speed record
  • So let me get this straight , The PM7 would be the most suitable ECU for the DOHC ZC. And if I understand correctlly you can remap these ECU's, which will be neccessary to run a turbo?

    PM7-2330

    Get it, chip it, done.

You can also use a PG7 ECU from an 88-91 Integra.
