Man, Instragram is too hard to keep up with after you follow enough crap....
Right! I use to follow everyone back, but then made myself regulations- like if your profile is private and I can't see what you're about- I will not follow back. If your profile is entirely full of old memes... or any memes at all- I will NOT follow you back... If you are 13 year old I will not follow you back... If you are a prostitute I will not follow you back... If I follow you and all you do is bitch about life and girls I now have to unfollow you because you're a negative piece of shit and blame everyone for your problems, How about some
personal accountability for your actions you piece of shit..
But mostly I follow back and cant even keep up with all the posts...
If instagram doesnt tell you what to do, listen to your heart instead.
Lols... Sig worthy.
More projects!
I need to have these re-chromed. I think thats a thing?.. They came plasti-dipped black, so I removed that and now- they need re-cromed. All the parts for these old cars need work.
One clip not on it... So I epoxied it back... I think it will hold. Epoxy has worked well for me in the passed... I bought these adorable clamps because they were so adorable... Never thought they would be useful! I was wrong.
Man, find me a like-new blue set, Bill. Top dollar will be paid~!
*edit
I just realized you said blue set.... In all my years I've never seen a blue/purple/plastic set for sale... They do exist somewhere in the world though- just never seen them for sale.
So I was googling; trying to find a place that chrome plates things in Denver, I found, that basically, there is NO ONE. Thats right, not one place that chrome coats metal in Denver. Apparently there are so many chemicals and what not that its basically illegal here? Environmental reasons? Not fully illegal, but there are so many regulations that its not a profitable situation? I dunno.
Anyways while I was googling- I came across "Smittys Chrome Plating" on facebook--- they are located in Nebraska. They just happened to be in town (Denver) for the Tristate Swap Meet. So after chatting with them on Facebook they said stop by the swap meet and they will give me a quote. So I did. Apparently I live with in minutes of where the Tristate Swap Meet is held. I had no idea. So I trucked through the mullets and white trash I managed to locate Smitty. The Tristate swap meet is very ummmm "American". Thats the right adjective. Smitty is a nice guy (I actually don't think thats his first name but I like to pretend it is). He quoted me, and I quote; "this shouldn't be too expensive, $450 for all 4 pieces".... The pieces are in kind of rough shape. Couple of wrinkles and bends in the metal, and Smitty said he could get them all out and they would look brand new.... Anyways, I thanked him and ran. I had no idea chrome plating was so expensive. I was prepared to pay half that. I just didn't know. So I learned something.
SOoooo, I took them home and installed them. lols. While I was installing them I realized I don't think they are supposed to be chrome to begin with... It seems to me- they are supposed to be black?
Lets google.
So yeah- I think they are supposed to be black...
I will probably re-plastidip them? Or paint them with bumper trim black.. orrrr I dunno... They are kind of haggard. Like they need to be sent into some one who can work out the bends and wrinkles???
Yes, good quality chrome plate is very labor intensive and uses chemicals you wouldn't want to be around. The parts are first acid etched, then polished by hand. Then copper is plated and polished again. Then they apply a layer of nickel and finally chrome. The guys who do the polishing have green skin and the stench in the shop is awful. Copper, nickel and chromium salts are all toxic, along with the acid used for etching. Disposal of the waste is very expensive. There's a reason that new cars have almost no chrome.
There is another option for "chroming" but I think the prices don't differ that much.
Google "spray-on chrome" and you find out more about it.
I've looked into it for a set of wheels but the proces was so new here back then that it was pretty much for companies only.
Nowadays it should be way cheaper. Still a lot of chemicals involved tho.
I'd do them in satin-black, which I think was OEM.
Maybe find a body/restoration shop in your neighbourhood and ask them if they can straighten them out and give you tips on color/chroming?
Got a new (to me) tape deck at the salvage yard this weekend. Its from an Accord. I think this is exact same model that was in my Red wagon?
Hooked up an OEM CD player that I had lying around and put it in the glove box.
had to remove this pesky plastic tray to put the cd player in glove box.
This all started because I went to the record store to look at records- and they had a pretty big section of Cassette Tapes. I was like awesome, I have a tape deck. So I buy a few tapes annnnnnd then my tape deck doesn't work. Classic.
Not much new. I picked up this giant cargo box off the side of the road. It appears to be designed with the same aerodynamics as the wagon... Real updates sooooon... maybe...
Got my wheels back yesterday. They turned out better than expected. These Cf-48's were pretty beat when I picked them up. I mean there are still a couple of unfixable dings on the lips, but Blue Flame Powder Coating did a very good job, blasting, sanding, and smoothing out what they could. It cost me 420 dollars. #colorado
Can't wait for these bad boys to go on. Plan on throwing any of that yellow on any other pieces of the wagon?
I don't really? Maybe if I get strut bars made then I will take them in... but i cant think of anything on the outside that I could PC that color without it looking really cheesy?
Comments
I'd go with original grey on the Moogans.
you tell me?
Yeah I'm still undecided on the color?- my instagram poll did nothing to persuade me to any particular color....

back to OEM wheel and shift knob...
Can we get some close up shots of the visors installed? I really like the way they look compared to the ones that hang much lower.
