perfourmance's powpow turbo wagon build

Alright guys, I'm a long time lurker on the site but this is my first build thread. I'm not your usual guy who builds cars, my father or brother was never into the sort and my parents always discouraged my ways. But I kept on doing what I loved and continue to do so to this day, and I'm happy to say my parents have gotten used to it now haha.

Well my name's Cody, I'm 23, and I'm from good ole Arkansas. I love it here, although the car scene blows and there's literally no shops in the area. Well enough with me, here's a little background on my cars and my Civic wagon.

The first car I ever truly built was my 1996 Integra GSR, it was my first true love and I still think about that car every day.

Here's what it looked like shortly after I bought it, it came with that hideous hood haha

313.jpg

It had function/form type ones, Lorber wheels, Bolt ons and skunk2 intake mani, and the type R lip kit. It stayed like that for a bit with some minor changes here and there

I plastidipped it with rattlecans ( sorry :( ) and got some new wheels
314.jpg

Then decided I wanted a 97 Type R replica and got a new front end and an OEM Type R wing
315.jpg
316.jpg

This was all in the fall time, and that christmas I bought some goodies. Innovate 95a mounts, NRG wheel and quick release, some shifter bushings, Hondata s300v2, Innovate wideband, and Prosport Oil Pressure gauges.

Then the inevitable happened, all those days of 8400 rpms flat foot shifts had taken their toll. Driving home one night and the car back fired, there was a huge cloud of smoke, and my car was hardly running. Pulled over and she was misfiring on one cylinder soooooo bad. Decided it was time to do my first engine swap. So to my buddy's house she went and we started the tear down.
321.jpg

And then she was empty :(
322.jpg

and the culprit... it was an easy fix, and being on a budget I wish i would have listened to my girlfriend when she said to just replace the valve and go on. But I didn't, you'll see why later.
323.jpg

So decided I was going to go H2B... first of all, terrible idea. This was my only form of transportation and I was in school and worked full time. My old lady was about to get real tired of hauling me around.

So I picked up my new heart after selling my GSR block and head and a few other parts I had laying around.
324.jpg

Then picked up my PLM H2b kit
325.jpg

After hours of shoe horning and tugging and pulling we got her in
325.jpg

Well then I started to get really, really frustrated with all of the clearance issues of the swap and the motor was missing tons of stuff and my girlfriend was still having to drive me around everywhere. I was just getting fed up with the whole thing, then a buddy made me an offer I couldn't resist. He was going to give me a complete B18CR motor that had brand new everything from top to bottom. It was a direct bolt in, and I couldn't say no. I also decided to do an ABS delete and clean up some of the wiring while the h22 came out and I was assembling the b18

Then I let my girlfriend go crazy on my valve cover and this was the result. Turned out amazing.
329.jpg

Then it was all together and ready to drop in the car
330.jpg

I was determined to be able to drive my car to my final exams, and I got the motor together the day before. So it was time to get it in the car and the bugs fixed out by the next afternoon.
and BAM! there she was on her maiden voyage
331.jpg
332.jpg

I was so happy with it. I did plastidip the car again ( we all make mistakes right? :disturbed: ) it was a little darker grey this time and actually turned out pretty good.
333.jpg
334.jpg
335.jpg

Well after all of that hard work and me being without a car for almost 5 months She was on the road again and running like a scolded dog too!

I let my friends convince me into wanting something else, and I was stupid enough to listen and got rid of this car that I poured all of my blood, sweat, tears, and tons of money into for this thing.

A 1996 EK Hatch with a b20b swap. This car ran awesome too and was in great shape besides a couple small things. Miss this car tons too
336.jpg

After that ordeal I got into this really bad habit of trading cars, keeping them for a month and then trading them for something else. I had huge plans for each one, but came up with an excuse to get rid of it each time and never followed through. I traded the green hatch for an MK3 supra, the Supra for a RHD Subaru Legacy, and then finally the Subaru Legacy for this 1990 Bone Stock Civic DX Wagon. I've told myself that I will not get rid of this car most likely ever, but I will at least finish the build I have in mind. I'm shooting for a clean car that I can drive every day if I wanted to, but will also excel out on the autoX track and maybe even have some fun at the local drag strip.

So here you have the beginning of my PowPow Turbo Wagon Build. Progress will be slow, and I suck at keeping Build threads up to date and taking pictures but I'll do my best.

Thanks for looking

Here she is the day I picked her up

Posed with my girl's FG2
337.jpg

Some awesome Red front seats (didn't even know those existed) and my Shifter installed from the integra.
338.jpg

Oh yeah, the only mod done to the car. This awesome iraqi terrorist headliner
339.jpg

And a picture of my neighbor's car, the guy who will be helping me every step of the way. Bad freakin Ass Turbo A6 crx build. Makes 440whp on race gas right now, he's going back for a new cam and e85 and more boost in the near future.
4.jpeg

Also, please excuse my use of the potato cam v3. It's all I've got

Threw on some ebay sleeves I had laying around
340.jpg

And my roommates 450whp Rotated 35R STI
341.jpg

The only things I've done to the car so far are the ebay sleeves (need to get rid of these and fast) a cable SI trans, 3000k HIDs, and repainted some trim and the front bumper. I bought a D16a6 for 75 bucks from some guy on craigslist. This will be the motor I build for whatever goals I set, haha, I can't say I've really decided on a certain power level yet. Nothing too crazy. Well I meant to take plenty of pictures when I disassembled it yesterday, but ADD struck again and I totally forgot. But here's my girlfriend cleaning up the block for paint and all the parts on the floor lol

And the water pump I pulled off, this is good to use right?
346.jpg

So thats the start to my build I hope to update it in the next few days with some more progress on the block

  • Forgot to mention my exhaust fell off when we had some pretty bad weather here in Arkansas. Not exactly sure how it happened, I'm thinking one of my hangers broke. But it was toast after dragging the ground the 50 miles to work as I had no means to fix it.

Anyhow, got an exhaust off Fleabay for an EF hatch and took it to this local exhaust shop and had them fab it up for me. Turned out wayyyy better than I thought for a total of 120 dollars spent.

And here's a little soundclip for you guys
    1.mp4
  • Lucky you getting your girl to help out. Mine only wants to work on her own car!

Yeah just hit that water pump with some wd40 is good for at least another 200k!
  • 91 RT4WD91 RT4WD Wagonist
There is no sound on the video
  • Haha I get lucky sometimes and she'll help me out if she's got nothing else to do. Most of the time she's doing the same and working on her own car.

And I'll check on that video not having sound. I'll probably just have to upload it to YouTube
  • Sorry for the wait! Here's the video now with sound!
