Tokico Problems

So Im i just put d2 lowering springs on tokico blues that came off a 96 ek hatch somehow the front struts fit on the wagon, but my my back struts where blown so i want to get tokicos in the back but im running into some problems, people keep saying the tokico blues for a 1990 wont fit the wagon models and thats why they only give me the haatchback option so the real question is

"are 1990 hatchback rear tokico blues compatable with a wagon"???

  • It might be with the way the spring perch sits for that year. I haven't dealt with ek before so I can't say for certain. I know you can use 88-91 rears from other civics if you get an integra spring to get things back up to the right height. If you can side by side compare the perch location on those EK struts vs EF that may be what the issue is.

Someone more knowledgeable than me is likely to chime in though, but that's my guess on why people would be saying they don't fit. That is unless they're just talking about the straight up bolt in factor of things, which I doubt that's a problem.
  • I am fairly certain an EG uses the same rear strut mounting as the EF. They may not be the same length and valving.

Yes, but it kinda depends on what springs you want to use. Wagon rear springs are extra long, and wagon rear struts have a low spring perch to accommodate the long springs. Switching to a non-wagon rear strut with their higher spring perch requires using a shorter spring... unless you want the ass end of your car jacked up high in the air.
  • Well he said he was using the D2 lowering springs. I mean if you were trying to use non-wagon struts with wagon springs that would be one thing, but it doesn't sound like that's what he's getting at.

ok well i ordered them tokicos so we will see the worst that could happen is i have to return them but thanx guys always helps to have more input
  • Yeah hopefully the worst case doesn't happen and you get to where you want to be. I know myself since I wanted a more stock height I had to go with Integra springs, but since you're lowering, that shouldn't be an issue.

I know it's not a true comparison given the compression that's on the springs, but since it's super simple popping the rear struts out, if they're not out already. I'd just side by side the new and the old and see if it looks at least close before bolting it all back up.
