YES I thought it was funny too!! When I first heard the noise I though it had just come loose, but then I see it siding down the street!!
I don't know how I didn't run over it!!
I got off work and received an email from Pull-a-Part saying they have a 1990 civic on the lot..
I didn't think much of it, because most of them are already striped and its probably a hatch anyway.
But I decided to go ahead and take a look at what they got!!
MAJOR SCORE!!
They had a Sedan with power everything!!
It only had 147K, it wasn't even wrecked and very little rust?? It actually looked pretty clean..
The interior was super clean!! I'm not sure what was wrong with it but YAY FOR ME!!
I pulled all the power options, windows, locks, mirrors and cruse control..
All the door switches and wiring harnesses and the complete interior/trunk harness!!
It was a major job but its going to be worth it!!
I do need to go back tomorrow and pull the dash wiring harness and engine harness!!
My plan is to eventually do a wire tuck and I would like to have an extra engine harness.
I hope its all still there after I get off work tomorrow!!
I had to replace my alternator a month ago, I took lots of pictures to make a DIY.
This is the 2nd time I replaced my alternator, that's why the old one looks new, because it is!!.
The first time I didn't have time to take pictures, but your in luck this one was bad..
It got me threw my work shift but then crapped out.. F#@king Autozone junk!!
Most of you all drop it out the bottom, but I have never had any luck doing so.
I have always done it this way and I've never had any problems!!
So the other day I received an email letting me know that pull a part had a 1990 Honda Civic on the lot.
I didn't think much of it because most are hatches and are already stripped, But I had some time and decided to have a gander.
This beauty was untouched, 1990 Honda Civic Sedan LX. Only 147K and almost no rust.. I'm not sure why it was junked..
The interior was almost mint.. It had all the power options and that is what I was after!!
I wish I had taken pictures of the interior before I stripped it!!
This EF sedan and I went to war!! My arms, hands and knuckles are tore up..
In the end I WON!!
List of Spoils
Complete Wiring harness, (Interior and engine bay)
All Power Windows
All Power Locks
Cluster
Fuse box
Pedal Assembly
All Cruise Control parts
Sun Visors
Condenser fan
All relays
All Control Boxes
Relating to the 1990 Civic Sedan that was in the junk yard in the above post.
So I couldn't figure out why this beauty was junked, the interior was almost mint, it had very little rust and only 147k miles..
After taking a look at the wiring and the pedal assembly I put 2 and 2 together.
On the trunk wiring harness the the wires to the rear lights had been cut and re tapped.
Then I noticed on the pedal assembly the little plastic brake light stopper was missing..
With these too things going on I'm guessing the brake light stopper broke off, which in return makes the brake lights stay on all the time.
So that why the wires in the trunk were all cut up..
I'm guessing the owner couldn't figure out why the brake lights were always on and figured it had an electrical problem.
Being the car is 25 years old, He/She probably junked it.. If that's the case WHAT A SHAME!!
I started the Power Windows, Locks, Mirrors and Cruise upgrade!!
All the Wiring laid out!!
Power Windows and Locks
Wiring
Rear Door Power Wiring
I'm going to re wrap all the wiring so it new and clean.
I will also test all the wires to make sure all connection are good!!
Removed all the tape
Re taping process
Almost done
And its done, I will do this to all the door wiring harness!!
Cruise Control (Cluster)
The cruise cluster light will need a new place in my cluster.
My LOW light is in the cruise location in the cluster.
I will have to make a new location for the light..
Cruise Control (Dash Wiring)
My plain is to not mess with the existing dash wiring, I will make a stand along wiring harness for the cruise control.
Only tie into the existing harness when needed.
Stripped all the tap!!
Labeling everything to make things easier to removed needed wiring!!
Thanks to Hill Billy I have a passenger seat that is in pretty good shape.
The fabric was a little dirty but after I removed it I washed it and it turned out pretty good.
The swap from passenger to driver seat went with out any major hitches.
Well here is a few pictures to show how to remove the fabric on a passenger seat.
It was really easy, I thought this was going a difficult job.
Once I clean my wagon I will post picture of the final product!!
If you hit that foam with some steam it'll puff back up as well, for any parts that have gotten compressed over the years. You can do it right through the fabric if you have access to a decent steamer.
Side note about the pig clips for the seats: Sometimes they are a pita to get off if the clips are pinched tight and overlap. When I did my CRX seat conversion on my last wagon I just used a dremel and cut them in half and then used zip ties to put the covers back on.
I think that emblem on the hood there would look very much out of place. Especially since you're using the older emblems on the rear.
I'm not going to do the emblem on the front. Not yet at least, I want to remove the H emblem before I do so. I'm thinking I need to re paint my hood, plus it has a few small dents.
I'm going to find another 1st gen Civic emblem for the front.
Well its been a while since I last posted, I have been posting in the facebook groups just because it an on the fly method to saying connected. My dad died in Jan of 15 and my mom in Nov, so its been a rough year. Now my sisters are being cunt whore shit dick fuckers over the estate. My sisters and I have equal power over the trust. What were my parents thinking. One person should have full power. I don't care if it were me or one of my sisters.
I trust my sisters will do the right thing in the end and split everything up correctly, so I resigned as trustee, and let them continue to not make decisions by them selves.
Anyway, I have a lot of updates and pictures I will share with you all soon.
Also My wife has wanted a wagon for a while now. I think I have found 2 wagons that are both in good condition. Both are RT's of course, one is an 89 red manual, the other is a 90 blue auto with a dealer option manual moon-roof. Its a tough decision, I want a Manual, but I want a blue wagon plus it has a dealer option moon-roof. Yeah Yeah its for my wife. We are keeping her CRV and she likes to have A/C and all the comforts of today's world. So I will be driving it a lot. Anyway I'm super excited, sunday we should be bring a new wagon home.
No we did not buy the wagon, the blue one was way too far and the guy said that I should trailer it, after saying it ran good. Apparently it did not.
Once we drove 3 hours to get the red one it was a pile of junk. The pictures were from 3 years ago, well a lot has change in that wagons life in 3 years.
But I'm glad I didn't buy ether one of them and waited until now because Sunday I will be flying to Miami to pick up a JDM RHD 95 Civic Shuttle/beagle.
Love the video of the muffler falling off. I literally busted out laughing! Hah I defiantly need a dash cam just for moments like this.
Awesome build to by the way, a lot of useful information.
Have fun with the power options conversion. It's defiantly worth it, that was one of the first things I did to my wagon.
Yes the dash cam has come in handy, I have seen a bunch of wrecks, one of them has even paid off. I pulled over to help out because it was a bad wreck and I told the lady I had a dash cam and caught it all on video. I gave her a copy and 3 month later she gave me a check for $500. She said she would have not won her settlement with out the video.
I still have not completed the power option conversion, I have however finished getting the wiring pulled out of the sedan harness and also worked out the cruise control light in the cluster.
I was super excited about this simple upgrade. It didn't really cost me much $400 including shipping from Poland.
This has made my wagon stick out and made a real difference in keeping my wagon looking clean. I can just throw all my shit in the back and cover it up now.
For those that want a cargo box set but don't want to spend the money, I'm telling you, now that I have it I would have paid $600 + for it.
This by far is the best OEM/EDM upgrade I have ever purchased for my wagon.
I know you want a set, so trust me its well worth the money!!
It took 41 days but it finally came.
EDM wagon cargo set.
I will have to fix or replace the cover, but I got a deal on it all.
So After a year or so I finally have started working on installing the Supercharger.
Its been one problem after another.
I did paint it, replace all the gaskets and bolts. New bearings and oil.
After I instilled it I had a vacuum leak, I couldn't figure out where it was coming from, it was idling at 4k.
But I figured that out and now my problem is ether I'm getting too much air or not enough fuel. It lags when I start from a stop position.
Once I get going its no problem and lots of power.
But now my biggest problem is I have a major oil leak. I was tweaking the fuel pressure and got in my wagon, I started to back up out onto the street and noticed a huge puddle of oil in the drive way, so I parked it and have not investigated the leak yet. It started raining really bad.

Yes I spray Painted it!!!
I used a Simi-Flat made for trim and bumpers..
I did this about a month ago, I have washed my wagon many times and it still looks good.
We will see how it does this winter!!
in for more.

This is going to be a pain in the ass.
I replaced the Windows crank, reinstalled the speaker baffle, sprayed truck bed lined on the door panel and replaced the plastic.
I will have to remove all this to install the power options, but it was fun anyway!!
Here are some pictures for your pleasure!!
New windows crank, So fresh and so clean!!
Truck Bed liner paint
Installed new window crank

What glue did you use on the plastic? looks similar to OEM.

What do you all think about a hood emblem?
From my DIY: https://www.civicwagon.com/showthread.php?9030-1991-RT4WD-CRX-seat-pan-swap-DIY
It will all fit but I have read you have to modify the front window rails. I'm not sure if this is correct.
I'm not going to do the emblem on the front. Not yet at least, I want to remove the H emblem before I do so. I'm thinking I need to re paint my hood, plus it has a few small dents.
