  • also my car does not had much power, would this be why? my old wagon had a d16 (zc) and it would beast this car. i just wanna know what would have done this because i dont want to buy another just for it to happen to it.
  • What coil? Are you talking about the distributor cap?
  • the ignition coil in the dizzy. i was doing a full tune up, pulled the cap and the spring was melted into the cap, part of the coil was melted and so was the cap.
  • Resistance gone awry somewhere can cause things to heat up. Possible mechanical failure of the distributor.

And yeah a melted distributor would sure as hell screw you big time when it comes to power. I mean the stock motor is only a 90 something at the flywheel so don't expect gobs of power but I can't envision a scenario where a totally screwed up distributor would not do anything but kill power.

Looks like you're gonna have to replace it anyway, but I'd look for any evidence of melted terminals where the power hookups and what not go in to the distributor. That would give you an idea if one was especially heating up. But to me it just sounds like a distributor gone bad.

Not sure if you're going junkyard on it or local parts dealer, but if local I'd probably nab whichever has the best warranty just in case something else is in play there. Especially as they're $100+

the only spring near the cap is the one that is supposed to be supporting a graphite prong or rod that sits in the middle of the rotor correct?
no pics-seems to be confusion of what your talking about? its about to be 2015 everyones dumb and need pictures instead of words like me
