Band Wagon
Hey guys!
I test drove the wagon today, and decided to go for it. 500 bucks got me this sweet little machine! 1986, 5 speed, 2WD, mechanically is super sound except for the AC doesn't work (but hell, it HAS AC). Just under 170k miles. Clean title and carfax, no accidents. It does have an aftermarket passenger mirror (which I'm going to try and find a stock mirror replacement for), it's missing the headrests (which I'll try to find some that fit, preferably stock but at least something that works). Has an aftermarket radio unit that works, but it was new back in the 90s. I've got a newer one kicking around I'll probably throw in, but I kinda wish I had the stock unit.
It does need a passenger front strut and CV joint. If anyone has any ideas on where the best place to buy the parts is, please let me know. It has a newer alternator, clutch, battery, head cover gasket, brakes, and tires. I'll be bringing her home Monday where I'll get some pics of the... less than perfect interior. She's got a lot of character, and once the old beast warmed up, she ran like a dream.
I have no idea if the rear windshield wiper works, but neither did the owner. I'm betting it doesn't. But hey, for 500 bucks, I've got a kinda unique ride that drives pretty well and will turn some heads. I even have a spare CB radio and antenna to throw in, I'll be cruising in no time.
