Howdy from Norcal. 1990 Wagon.

Hello, everyone! My name is Eric and I'm a new wagon owner. After 25 vehicles I can't believe this is my first Honda.

A couple weeks ago I paid too much for my 90 Wagon, but it drove so nice and is clean and original, has cold a/c and has only 90k miles. Turns out the seller was a shady mofo and the car started to overheat the first time I drove it an hour to work. New headgasket and radiator and now it seems to rub fine. I really enjoy driving it. So easy to park, great mpg, tons of room inside for gear, what's not to like?

Anyway I plan to drive it daily all over the bay area, and add racks so we can put our kayaks on top.

Wave if you see a goofy bearded white guy in a grey 90 wagon. And don't buy a car from a fat douchebag named Allan. If you see him please kick him in the junk for me.

  • Welcome what part of the bay area you from?
  • Welcome to the family Eric. Sorry your introduction to wagons sucked but it sounds like you are already very hooked. Lets see some pics please!

Nice--I have my 90 wagon in the bay area a lot when we're performing out there. I just moved from Cali back to WY for a 2 years, but I'll be back soon enough. My head blew the first day I drove mine, too. Common story--thin walls. Never let them get hot and you'll be fine from here out.

Update, I am in bed with a bad flu, 101 temp, so I'll have to post pics another time. Just wanted to report I've put a few tanks of gas thru it and best so far is 31mpg, worst was 24mpg, (with three passengers going up a few hills playing tour guide for family visiting from Seattle). The Wagon is such a perfect "tour guide" vehicle since you virtually have 360 views.

It is running great except that the idle once in awhile ramps up to 1300rpm from 600. I saw an article about cleaning the valve doohicky with carb cleaner so I'll be doing that soon. Also have new plugs, rotor, cap ready to go on as soon as I am back on my feet.

Also, what is the round thing for that is under the rear bumper? Towing?? Towing what???

I'm in Fremont, but most every week I commute to San Rafael, Cupertino, and San Carlos.

Also, change of plans: I am buying my neighbors ford ranger as a kayak vehicle so I won't have to drip saltwater all over my Wagon and mess with the mpg by adding racks.
