What radiator works in an RT wit han automatic.

Hi I need a new radiator for my car and I'm having a heck of a time finding one that has the same size core as the original. I bought one off ebay that was supposed to be a direct fit replacement but when I got it I noticed that the core was only half the thickness of the original. I've been looking for one that will offer the same cooling capacity but all the ones I'm finding seem to be of the 5/8ths thick single core type. I found dual core all aluminum radiators on ebay but they are all for manual cars and from what I can tell I would need to install a separate oil cooler to make it work. Is there a simpler solution to replace the radiator in my car? Is this 5/8 single core adequate? What do you guys run?

  • We don't have auto wagons in Australia but if your stock radiator is twin core im guessing the bottom third would be used for your tranny cooler.
Tried a concerto radiator? Same thing, twin row with oil cooler underneath for the auto version.
Thought about getting your one reconditioned? More often than not a better option then buying a second hand one

They don't get the Concerto over there AFAIK.

Compared to a DA radiator (not sure if you get D-series DA's either...)?

This one I got has the tranny ports, I guess it was cheap enough that sending it back is hardly cost effective so I'll just throw it in there and see if it works, I'm sure it will be fine until the summer anyway. I just can't believe that there is no equivalent replacement available for my car. Even the more expensive ones from Koyo and CSF are a single core.
  • i have a 90-93 integra radiator in my manual rt4wd, but the radiator does have the transmission cooler line ports for an automatic. it fits in the stock location(a little tight), i only had to stretch my original 1 1/8'' hoses to fit the 1 1/4'' radiator hose ports.
  • It is rare these days to buy a new radiator without auto tranny cooling ports already included. It is much easier for the companies to make one for both applications and cuts their radiator inventory part numbers in half! Hell, even the one I bought for a Del Sol recently has them. Just find one that fits your application. You didn't say what year but try Rockauto.com. Below is just a partial sample from their website:
