Hi everyone, picked up this beaut on craigslist a few weeks ago, figured it was time to show her off. I live up in the mountains in Socal, and was looking to buy something 4wd; almost went subaru but really wanted a rt. Im 17 yrs currently just trying to get through high school, already lost my license (DUI lol) but hopefully will be getting it back this week pretty pumped on that haha. Probably shouldve waited for an rt to come a long but i went with the 2wd, the rt's are damn hard to find!! Dropped 2500$ on it from a guy in Victorville, it was a pretty shady deal. Met him at an in n out and test drove it, had to take it home this thing is too sick. The guy had 0 paperwork for it, told me he had a buddy pass emissions for him, he converted it to manual and dropped in a z6 himself. He said the engine has 150k on it and the tranny is a complete mystery. Has no proof for the engine so well see how things go. Kept saying hes a "diesel mechanic" so he knows what hes doing, good thing the cars gasoline lol. But anyways its on DropZone coilovers and i cant stand it, my head hits the ceiling a little too frequently. The sound of my mudflaps scraping makes me cringe a bit too. I plan on putting it on a decent lowering spring. Im on a budget and really dont want to spend too much on the suspension, I just want a slight drop with level ride height and stiffer than stock ride. Turns out its not that simple to pick a setup for these wagons, im a little lost on what ef setup to get so any advice is welcomed. I just bought a ebay turbo kit from a guy on craigslist for 280$, everythings there including injectors, wastegate, intercooler, piping, and probably a blown turbo... haha. Not rushing the build though im going to wait to get all the parts and info before i boost it, thinking about buying a spare engine too. Probably will need it lol. Not very mechanically seasoned, my pops isnt a car guy and hasnt passed on much wisdom, so im on my own. Its been smoking lately before it warms up, not sure if i have a blown head gasket or if im running lean. Thinking it might be a bit lean because i have a CEL for code 8, its for the TDC sensor in the dizzy. Gonna try and test continuity at the ECU and the dizzy wouldnt be surprised if the diesel mechanic half assed the wiring. The ECU was still auto so i had to solder that into a manual. Anyways hope to get some feedback from some fellow wagoners!! Any feedback is appreciated :smug:
