Front pads not fitting on 91 RT4wd

Hello everyone,

I hate to ask you all this and I have looked all over Google without any luck. I have purchased new pads from Napa Auto parts specially for my 1991 RT4wd civic wagon. When I go to put the pads in the calipers they are just a few mm to long to fit inside the caliper. If I were to install them I would have to shave them down for them to fit. Does anyone have a clue why this happened? I have gone through 4 different boxes of pads at Napa and every box I went through the pads were the same. Went through a box for a 91 sedan, crx si and 88 base model. All the pads seem like they need to be cut in order to fit inside the caliper.

Wondering if anyone has the specific part number or if this has happened before. Thank you for all your help.

  • i used napa ss7263x on my 1990 rt4wd. the cheaper pad is ts7263m which ive used also. they both fit fine. is there some old shims still on the bracket?
  • If all the pads are fitting this way you might have rust build up behind the shims. Rust will continually build up behind them pushing them out. I have had to use a coarse file to remove rust to help pads fit. Don't know if this is your problem but it has been mine in the past.
  • Thank you for this part number. I had the Napa associates look which pad to use in their computer system and I think they gave me the totally wrong pad. I will update this thread once I receive these pads and install them. From the looks of the pads they should go right in. At least alot better then the previous ones I purchased.

Ya there is no build up of any kind on the bracket or in the caliper.
