hey guys i have a stupid question,.

949949 Senior Wagonist
got a quick question. im right in the middle of the transaction so I need help quick.

I have a 1991 wagon RT 4wd. manual.
will a d16y8 block and head fit right into the physical engine mounts?
plus is there anything else that will not fit directly that I am not aware off?

I plan on swapping out the whole d16a6/y8 conversion I have now for the complete d16y8 block and head.

im not really versed on the tranny section as well.

thanks.

Yes, it will bolt in. The only snag that comes to mind is whether that block is drilled for the left axle intermediate shaft.

Interesting. So does this mean that a JDM DOHC ZC (or D16A8/D16A9) could fit in a RT4WD as well?

Yes, it is what I have, you just need to keep the RT intermediate shaft (different than the ZC one).

    back to my original question.

will all the sensor, dizzy, flywheel, oil pump, water pump, etc transfer over as well?

Distr: yes, since you say already Y8 head
    sensors: yes, I think so
    oil/water pumps: I just don't know
    flywheel: pretty sure.

You will have to use the oil pan and pickup from your a6, to clear the transfer case.

I know this isn't a very complete answer, sorry. I haven't done this exact combination. Look around on here for the z6 into RT thread, a lot of good info there, and I would think very similar to your situation.

Has anyone actually actually tried to fit the RT4WD A6 sump and pickup on a OBD2 motor?

The pickup and the sump actually dont fit. You can make the pickup work but the sump has a few different holes so it doesnt fit.

I had to use the sump & pickup that came with the motor, I'm yet to see if the transfer case clears....

Good info. I didn't know that. I guess that means the y8 block isn't really a great match with an RT.

also another idea, would a d16z6 bolt right over?

found a d16z6. would that be a bolt on?
