Turn key to "start", but *nothing*! Not even clicking...

My car sat for a few months, and when I went to start it... nothing happened. Everything seems normal in "ACC" or "IGN" positions, but all I hear in "START" is the fuel pump. The battery voltage is fine, so I'm not sure where to look next. Any suggestions?

  • Fuses? Starter?
  • you might try wriggling your battery connections.

Do the lights and everything come on?
When you turn the key to start, do the dash lights dim but stay on or do all the lights shut off?
Have you had the battery tested?
Should be simple troubleshooting and the above is where to start.

main relay? ignition in the key mechanism may be out
  • Ck for voltage on the big wire at the starter. If none ck battery connections. If ok ck for voltage at the exciter wire while turning the key.
