Check Engine Light Help.

SPWSPW Senior Wagonist
My check engine light came up. So I looked up ways to diagnose the problem. What popped up was put the car into second position, flip back the carpet and check how many times the red light flashes on the ECU through the peak hole. I precisely did that. Supposedly, the code is suppose to repeat itself. It only flashes once and that's it. Nothing afterwards. Am I doing something wrong? If not, what's the problem?

It completely flew over my head but it's possible that the following problem may be associated with the light. If I let the car sit over 4 hours and I go to crank it up, it takes a good 15 seconds for it to turn on. Also, if I tap on the accelerator to hard, it tends to sputter and in some cases, turn off.

seems to me that its a bad o2 sensor. i have kinda the same problem, the car drives great but sometimes when i stop at red lights or stop signs the car wants to bog down and idle really low. also getting smelly exhaust like its running real rich. going to pick up an o2 sensor tomorrow.

Yea mines the same exact way. Yesterday I was at a light after about 30 minutes of city driving, green light flashed I pressed on the accelerator and the wagon started bogging down really bad. As if it where getting no gas. Then it eventually turned off andbluckily it turned back on. Ill pick up a o2 sensor today. I also checked my MPG this tank and im getting around 18mpg. :/ o2 sensor can cause bad MPG right?

I changed the distributor cap, rotor and o2 sensor. Turns on quickly now in the mornings thank goodness. But I Have not tried turning her on after she gets warm. I usually go to and from work with the wagon. So I'll report back when I go fill her up and get the new MPG numbers. I'm still bummed about the check engine light. :/ Any suggestions?

You may have to reset the ecu to clear the check engine light

    Did that. Nothing.
