Rear Diff Bracket

www.civicwagon.com

Hey guys,

I have a 91 civic rt4wd, when I'm driving above 60mph I get a lot of vibration coming from the rear diff. Do you guys think its the axles or mounts? I also noticed that part #9 was missing all the rubber that holds the metal shaft in place, meaning that it is free to move around. It hits metal to metal, any suggestions on getting this fixed? Can I remove that part all together? Is its purpose to be balance the rear diff?

Thanks

I'm going to attempt to do the rear differential mod.
  • I believe most people just completely remove #9 when it is worn out, and I haven't heard of anyone having any issues without it there.

I didn't remove mine. I figured it was there for some kind of reason, most likely to balance things. I just used some window urethane and sealed around it so it has a barrier between the bar and the metal surrounding. It has held up for three years now, and I beat the piss out of Jane lol.

Thanks guys, I will add 3m window urethane. It just sounds like everything is going to fall off when i go faster than 60mph under acceleration, but then it reaches a steady point, meaning it does not vibrate as much.

Do you notice your car swaying at all? I had the same problem and my rear diff mount was SHOT! HAd to fill it with some poly and its helped but still kinda shitty. Best Of luck to ya man. I Would check that mount.

The mount was shot, im going to fill it to see if that helps. I'm also going to do the mod that helps with the thug sound using the coilover bushings.
