Band Wagon
I am having a transmission problem with the shift rod/plunger that sticks out of the rear of the transaxle case that the shift lever rod is attached to. The transaxle is currently stuck in fourth gear and the rod in question is protruding and stuck too far backwards (towards the rear of the car) out of the transaxle case. I would like to take a hammer and tap the rod back in, but I am not sure if this will cause transmission damage, nor do I have any idea how this rod is attached inside the transaxle. I am wondering if a circlip or other fastener may be broken or currently residing at the bottom of the transmission case. Anybody out there have an experience like this, and/or know what the internal side of this rod/plunger looks like, and if indeed there is some sort of fastener involved that may have broken. I would greatly appreciate any help you can offer. Schematics would be wonderful!
thanks

What I would do in your case is shop for a junkyard transmission. At least in my area, a used one can be found far cheaper than even the parts required to repair yours.
Do you know where I could find a schematic showing me the set screw?
Thank you
