PS rack removal on RT4wd

Hey all. Ive been doing searches but cannot find any info on removing the PS rack in my RT4wd. Im wondering if there is enough clearance to remove it through the wheel well without disconnecting the rear driveshaft or if i will need to disconnect it. Im also wondering what the best replacement replacement rack would be
Thanks

just the rack, probably leave the driveshaft in. definitely not the subframe though.

take your outer tie rods off(you might can leave them on but i doubt it.)
IMPORTANT: TURN YOUR STEERING WHEEL ALL THE WAY LEFT
this pulls the left tie rod in close enough to clear the supports
    Decouple from your steering column.
pull the shield off the driver side. 2 14 mm bolts on the rack and 2 more on the bracket.
you may have to unbolt the sway bar to move it out of the way.
pulling down on the rack while pushing it towards the pass side should let the tie rod just barely clear then head the other direction.

You're on your own on hoses though, i clipped all of those because i swapped to a manual rack/subframe with quaife internals

I replaced my complete subframe with the one from a CRX. Manual rack and all.

You will have to replace the whole sub frame from a non-power steering car, other wise the bushing on the passenger side rack will not work...

i dont want to go to manual steering, i just wondered if there was enough clearance to remove and re-install it without disconnecting the propeller shaft.
Thanks for the replies, this is the least agro and most helpful forum ive ever used

I think you do have to remove the drive shaft and drop the exhaust out of the way too.

It'd probably make things easier, but I was able to R&R my rack without doing so. I did loosen up the sway bar though.

I've often found, the more I try to do something without removing parts in the way...the more I realize it would have been faster and easier to remove the parts to do the job I need to do.

This is very true. But when you're on your back in a driveway instead of under a nice lift, and when your wiring harness starts cracking/breaking as you look at it, you try to talk yourself out of removing anything you don't really have to.

The driveshaft is 4 bolts.. Lol. Why fight with it?
