89 Wagon (Winter Beater)

Hi all,

I've had my wagon now about a year I guess but never got around to signing up here until now. Some of you may know the user 'Old Skool' on here, or Justin. He has helped me pretty much every step of the way to get the wagon where it is today.

I live in Vancouver, Canada & bought this car to get me through winter so I didn't have to drive my 78 civic that has typical rust problems that I don't want to accelerate.

Here is a quick before & after shot, i'll post more of the progress shots afterwards..

The seats were so badly stained I wasn't happy with them, no matter how many times they were scrubbed so I decided to look in to a more comfy & better looking seat.

Trip the the yard, and $60 later I was rocking some Prelude Seats.

Picked up some Adjustable Coil Overs for a good price, so slapped them in while running on some borrowed RT steelies.

Original engine died.. lost a cylinder... while I was deciding if I wanted to continue sinking money in to this car (remember, was meant to be a winter beater) this b18 setup came up for purchase.. Already swapped in to an EF, so basically plug & play, I couldn't resist.

Because the engine came complete, with axles still in the tranny I didn't think to check the tranny for fluid and blew it up just 3 days in to driving it... back to the yard for a replacement.

Nice progress! Want to sell your window visors? :P

I would also like to see how you bracketed in the lude seats.
  • rakfintrakfint Band Wagon
The visors are actually from a pathfinder.. can buy them new ;)

Next time I pull the seats out i'll take some photos, it was so long ago i've forgotten exactly what was involved, but it wasn't a huge job.
  • I'm guessing based off the seats, you're the guy who has the double din/cupholder mod/and moved clock? :)
  • What year pathfinder?
  • rakfintrakfint Band Wagon
    Late 80s, early 90s I believe.

They look like they actually fit pretty well. Did you have to cut them at all?
  • Nice to see you on here, seen a few posts of yours on one of the facebook groups. I like the DIY mods that you have done so far, all very clean and well done. Can't say that I am a huge fan of the seats but it doesn't throw the interior off too bad. Have you thought about stripping the wagon skins from the foam and giving them a good soak in hot water and oxyclean? It works like a charm! Anyways, welcome!
  • rakfintrakfint Band Wagon
TheGreatBacon I wasn't a huge fan of the stock seats to be honest, they just don't have enough support. I got rid of them long ago, I don't have space to store stuff unfortunately.

I love the cup holder and the seats!!
  • I agree the cup holder is awesome
  • Awesome touch screen, cup holder, and clock relocation! I also really dig the seats! Great work being done on this little beauty, I really like the craftsmanship. What is next?
  • rakfintrakfint Band Wagon
    Thanks all!

I'm actually working on my 78 civic at the moment, trying to get it back together & on the road for summer.

But in saying that, I think next up for the wagon is to properly mount my rear powered speakers that I stole from a volvo & hack up a spoiler I found that I want to make fit... stay tuned :p

My 78 in case any of you are oldschool fans.
