Some Mini-Me Questions

So I've been doing some research on these mini me builds for a while now but there's just too much information. Some of it contradicting. As of now my research has allowed me to successfully complete the dpfi to mpfi swap, the obd1 conversion, and the auto to manual swap..

Here's the setup:
D15b2 block. All Stock.
Y8 head. All stock
Y8 head gasket
Y8 Timing belt
Y8 Adjustable Cam gear (VMS)
Y8 Auto Intake manifold ( 3 wire IACV on tb)
Z6 injectors
B7 Distributor
10mm plug wires
P28 Chipped

Now here are my questions:
1) Do I advance or retard the cam 4.75 degrees? Im still unsure about this and I'm a little hesitant to just go either way and try to crank it up since Im freaking out about piston to valve clearance even though I shouldn't have any issues since neither the head nor block have been deck. Still better safe than sorry.
2) How do I fix my idling problem? I know I will have a surging idle when it finally starts. The 3wire iacv isnt compatible with the p28 ecu.. or so I read. I did find the 3wire to 2wire conversion write ups but those were for obd2 to obd1... not obd0 to 0bd1. Not sure if that matters but I did more reading and found out that the 2 wire iacv and 3 wire iacv function completely differently, both mechanically and electrically.... so how do I go about this without getting a new intake manifold or drilling and tapping my current one to mount up the 2wire iacv?

I'll probably have some more questions as I go along so thanks in advance.

    Got an update:

So I finally had some time to crank this baby over and she started right up.
My cam gear is zeroed out and the cam is at TDC and it sounds great besides the idle surge that was expected. It definately sounds like a different car.

The only real issue Im having is its running SUPER RICH at operating temperature. Not sure if my 02 sensor wiring is wrong or if its my timing or what..
I wanted to think my timing was off but its starts right up and revs real nice all the way through.

I am getting CEL's codes 14 for the IACV, and code 9 for No.1 cylinder position sensor.

I'll be trying to sort these out.
If any of you can shed some light in the meanwhile on code 9 specifically it'll be much appreciated. Thanks.

Yeah, I came across this one and many more. Thanks. At least it starts right!? haha

Well not right now. I've got my intake manifold off and tiding things up still.
But before I made any changes the mini me swap started right up with the cam at TDC.

I've since then advanced the cam gear almost 5 degrees... and it looks like this..

I still need to finish some little things before I can put it back together and start it so I can check for codes again. I'll update as soon as I can in case anyone is interested

What was the P28 chipped for? Some "chips" just dump loads of fuel which could explain running rich. Try getting it working with a stock P28 then switch to your chipped one.

Will do. Next start up I'll run a stock p28 ecu and see what it does.
And the chipped one is from an h22 swap I have in my accord. I've had it forever and never had any problems with it. anyway, it'll get figured out. Thanks.

    here's the update..
the mini me swap is still running super rich!
    I tried a stock p06, stock p28, and a chipped p28.
I even swapped the injectors and still looks like my car is on fire at idle. Plums of black/gray smoke.

all ecu's threw the same codes : 9 and 14.

Is my timing still off? i already advance the cam timing almost 6 degrees really.
Or do I need a resistor box for my injectors? i was under the impression that i didnt' since they are y8 injectors.
Or do I simply need a tune.

anyone ever get code 9? or know how to diagnose it?

thanks for the replies so far.

I got rid of my CEL's. and it had nothing to do with the ecu's i was using.
Simply put, it was an honest mistake. the CYP sensor wires were reversed.

Im still running rich though. Not SUPER rich anymore but still pretty rich...
anyway, now with no cel's i can move on.
thanks for those of you who tried to help.
