  • Nice pick up! I love those shuttle window bars :) Can't wait to see your progress. Good luck with the build.
  • Cheers mate.

I like the bars also. 2wd?

Looks like a solid start. Cheers from the States.
  • Thanking you. Yeah its a 2WD.
  • VladiVladi Senior Wagonist
Jailbars are awesome, are they optional or aftermarket?
  • Not too sure. The previous owner was a surfer so maybe he put them in to stop his board from smashing the glass? Ah well, I like 'em.
  • VladiVladi Senior Wagonist
    Me too.
I like the whole car man, there's something about Panda wagons.
  • Appreciated mate.
  • Apologies for the lack of updates, I've just had my splint taken off as I broke my hand.

Anyways, things have progressed nicely. I will let the pics explain.

Extended top hats... Thats pretty awesome. Very clean car
  • Yeah they're a bit excesive, but they do the job.
  • Looks great! I noticed you painted the plastic on the doors as well, gives it a clean look! Good thinking
  • VladiVladi Senior Wagonist
    Clean man!
  • Thanks guys.
  • So I set out for some more low last weekend. Got some hood spacers to accomodate for the 3" Extended Top Hats and the adjustable sleeves to sit captive.

This pic was before installing everything:

About an inch of gap to close. After installing these:

    633.jpg20140521_123555 by Aaron_Pitman, on Flickr

    It went down to this:

    634.jpg20140521_125321 by Aaron_Pitman, on Flickr

No room what so ever under there. Unfortunately it was too low and I bent my guards a bit taking it for a test drive.

So I had to take it all back out again and put the regular lowering gear back in.

I decided to keep the hood spacers in as I like the look, and my hood is stuffed anyways so may aswell:

Closing front and rear pic before I reverted it back to original lowering gear:

Man I wish I could keep it like that.
  • So not a whole lot going on, but I did get some new wheels:

    And painted em (sort of):

Lovin those seat covers Kiwi... ;)
  • Cheers matey! So I got some tires fitted to the wheels and gave them a test fit:

Should get more tires next week and roll these bad boys from now on.

That stance is perfect. Why can't you keep it at that height?
  • Cause I cant get out of my driveway, and the tires got ripped to shreads on the rear. Oh and I cant turn my steering wheel haha.
  • debrisdebris Wagonist
Ok, then tell me how can I get that low then!
    :)
  • Adjustable suspension and big extended top hats :D
  • So I decided to ditch the Stance approach for the Wagz for a couple of reasons:

1: I order to get it the way I wanted it to look at get it legal, I would require a Certification
2: I believe the transmission is on its way out, so when this happens I will be taking it off the road and looking into engine swap options
3: And all together there is no point in getting a Cert for it now if I'm going to be replacing the engine later, which requires another Cert.

So I've decided to go for a 90's Jap look instead. I picked myself up 2 pairs of genuine Mugen MR-5 2-piece wheels. Very light weight compared to any other wheel I have owned.

Initially I was looking for some Mugen CF-48's but couldn't get my hands on any without paying moonbeams.

Any ways here are some pics:

To start I was going to take the faces off making it easier to paint:

One of the pairs had already been re-painted, so I was glad I only had to split the other pair.

The wheel pictured below I was unable to split as the last bolt left wasn't coming out, however I masked it up and hit it with some primer:
    95.jpg20140801_125315 by Aaron_Pitman, on Flickr

Did the same with the one I was able to split and hit it with my first coat of Charcoal Grey:

And the same with the un-splitable one:

After realizing that this wasn't the color I wanted, I set off to get some more paint. Picked up a nice can of Rustoleum Titanium Silver and hit them with that:

Now unfortunately I going to have to re-paint them again as that Silver has a Metalic flake through it. However I have picked out another Rustoleum Silver which should work perfectly.

    Until next time...

Those coilover sleeves/springs are designed to be used with keeper springs. Thats why you needed such massive extended tophats to keep them captive
  • Yeah I'm not going to run at all without keeper springs. I just recently got some EF superlows for the front which are nice and captive.
  • VladiVladi Senior Wagonist
Good call man, I had this epiphany last year too and went with MR5s too... They just look right on a boxxy Honda.

Curious to see where this goes man, I'm taking my Mugens apart coming winter too for some new paint :)
  • Cheers Vladi. The decision to go with the MR-5's was due to your Wagon looking so sweet on them :)
  • VladiVladi Senior Wagonist
Im flattered, its cool to know Im an inspiration for other Honda drivers, thanks! :)
  • So I got the MR-5's on.

Love these wheels :encouragement: Im seriously planning on picking up a set after I paint my wagon well after I paint my engine bay, save funds, paint my wagon, save funds again then finally picking up a set. Your wagon and Vladi's wagon looks so good with them mugen's...
