My daily Driver- 88 Civic Wagovan RT4WD 5 Speed

Well, Here it is finally. My 88 civic rt4wd. Its got 223,000 miles. Recently did Steering rack, front axles, front and rear brakes, spark plugs and wires, cap and rotor, o-ring seal under cap and rotor (forgot what its called) valve cover Gasket, Speedo cable (from a crx), hood, plastidip coat. Started painting interior black with the interior paint, not a fan of the brown. Would love to do new carpet and re upholstery some day. Looking for a roof rack and thinking of doing the front grill with maybe a small winch for kicks.

thinking I need a timing belt here soon, and possibly a new drive shaft. Doing the front axles didn't really fix the vibrations I sometimes get. Also, thing something is up with maybe the EACV, as sometimes I get a random stall, when idling in neutral. It also has a sporadic idle drop from 800 rpm down to 300 rpm, almost stall when warm. All the forums say eacv, but i don't have the constant stall that they say they have, just a random stall. So yeah this is my beauty.

Why... um? Where... (re-reads).... Why are the panels painted white? Then at the end you're painting panels black? Are you repainting the panels with black plastidip, then painting them white? Is this a DIY paint job you're doing? Will your car be all white when you're done?
  • haha no, it was black first then white. Leaving the panels white for now as itd be too many differnet colors till i get the hood either painted or plastidipped.

The white clashes directly with the beige in a severe fashion that is not appealing.

I think everyone here is being as nice as they can, lol.
  • Well i guess the good thing is that you dont have to worry about it becuase you dont drive it :D. but i agree, the white does not have the effect that i was hoping it would. will prolly go back to black, when i have the extra dough. Nice thaing about plastidip is it is easilly changeable.10154975_10152030960791299_389081988_n.jpg
  • Have you jumped it looks like good place to try?

If you're going for the Subaru look, black would probably look much better lol.

  • What would you all recommend for a lift kit? Would like to at least raise the front up so its not stink bugging, and start looking for some bigger tires and rims....kinda like bam-Bams, but maybe not as high :D Any input is appreciated.
  • Are you in Glamis sand dunes?
  • no, its oceano dunes in the central coast california

So Need some help please!! While doing the timing belt, we busted the crankshaft pulley...as you can see from above... Any ideas for how to get the bolt holding it in? tried all different types of impact wrenches, screwdriver and braker bar (thats how we broke the pulley), and finally fabricating our own tool to hold the crankshaft stil lwhile trying to get the bolt out (tried in gear foot on brake, and this tool...using the ground as its blocker) all of it to no avail after 5 hours. any suggestions would be helpful

  • Also having some crazy tire wear. these tires are less than a year old with less than 7000 miles on them. Ive had two alignments done (1st one after i raised it and put the new tires on, 2nd after i put front axles and steering rack. At my wits end with her right now.

Put the alternator belt back on, drive it to a real shop, and have them break loose the crank bolt. Hand tighten it after and drive it home to resume your disassembly.

Just heat itup with a torch, then impact.

If that doesn't work, buy a better impact. Lol.
