Wobbly shifter, not the bushings. Darn ujoint!

I searched around and didn't see anything like this, apologies if I missed it. Either way. I have a floppy stick shift, and I ordered the energy suspension bushings. Well I was going to take a video of the install and I get under there and guess what. That's not what's wobbling at all.

It's the ujoint on the other rod that's right up near the transmission that's causing the problem.

I don't see a youtube embed button here (if there's a way to do that, let me know) so here's the link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlcHTL62zxM

The question I have is, does anyone have a decent DIY fix to address this slop? Because a whole new rod is only $60 at the dealer, and if it's just a boogered fix unless you have access to a lathe and can make some nylon bushings or what not yourself, I think it would probably just be simpler to buy a new one.

  • Ended up just pulling one off of a crx with a fresh ujoint. Cut and welded it to fit. The end.
