Veteran advice please. Two wagons. One Mission. (Portland, OR)

I have two salvage title 91 RT4WD. They are the exact same car in every way all the way down to the color and mileage (130k). Only difference is that one is a manual which I want to keep and rebuild. I paid 3k for the automatic and 2.5k for the manual now the question is..... is the automatic worth the 3k to keep around as a parts car? I'm new to these wagons and I'm quickly learning that parts are scarce.... VERY scarce and GOOD info is even scarcer. This might be a premature equestination since I don't know what parts I need off the automatic just yet. (Detailing and fully examining the manual Wednesday) Any advice will help.

Sell the Auto wagon, if the condition is good and mileage is as low as you say, you should have no problem getting your money back. Up in Portland / the upper north west, parts aren't that hard to come by. Especially now that you found your way onto this forum it shouldn't be a problem tracking stuff down. Sell the auto and buy a much cheaper shittier parts wagon. Using good wagons for parts just pisses me off.
  • I agree with quarters...my first thought would be to just sell the auto wagon, both to save a good, running wagon for someone else, and since you can probably find a rusted out cheaper wagon with all the parts you need (esp. up north).

However, depending on what you need, and what all is available as another parts car, it may not be a bad idea to use the auto as a parts car (RTs are much, much harder to come by down south). You've almost definitely got more than 3k in parts if it's in as good of condition as the one in your pic. Even so, I'd still probably wait on a shittier RT to come around if I was in your position (and in Texas).
  • If you can get two people to agree on any forum, then that is definitely the answer. I almost felt gross swapping fenders off the auto. Well then off to craigslist it goes. I'll make a for sale post on here later too, just want to clean it before I take photos.
