EE WHITE DWAGON-resurrection

Hey all! I'm btbammer, I'm for the NW (oregon) and this is my build thread. This is my second build thread I've made. So with the knowledge I gained from that, I hope to make this one even better!

So here's the story on this mythical beast. I picked her up last night from a guy in coosbay. I paid for it in trade for a ford explorer I absolutely hated. So I got way more than I expected as trade, to say the least.

Its a 1991 fwd dx automatic with really high miles. The interior isn't the cleanest and the driver seat is jacked (who knew? ?) The body has a few signs of surface rust but no leaks. The passenger fender needs replaced as well as the rear passenger door.

All in all I couldn't be happier. 2014 has officially started off right!! Ill be posting my progress as the days progress and be showing how and what I use to maybe help out anyone who's confused or curious.

I'm excited to start this. Its been over a year since my last wagon project. I've missed it so damn much.

Either way here's the pics!

clean looking wagon best of luck with it
  • So what are your plans with this mystical beast.

Are you planning on lowering it?
  • I have lots of plans for this one.

Custom tophats, slamm it on its ass, rear mud flaps, power win/door, tint, wheels and tires, color match the bumpers, repaint plastics, swap a z6. But keep it auto.

I'm going to reapholster the drivers seat, get an armrest, center console and fab my out cargo cover. Besides that I'm going to try and keep the interior conpletely stock. I painted the interior of my other one I had black and regretted it later.

So right now I'm focusing on an oil leak and getting the body in in tip top shape.

My goal is to have a majority done by summer.

Thanks! I'm pretty damn happy :-)
  • WOW dude it looks like you got a lot ahead of you.

Sounds like it's going to be a sweet build.

soo yesterday I did quite a bit to the wagon. Change the oil, cleaned the bay and engine a lot, swapped on a cleaner vc, replaced the oil pressure switch, and fixed a leak.

Sadly..unfortunately..after doing all that work, the oil dummy light didn't shut off.. so while driving home, a HARD knock presented itself and left me stranded on a back road. :( sad day..

Here are some pics. You'll see that one of my pics the post that holds the vc on is broken halfway off. Luckily I was able to get a tight seal. Not that it matters now.. :-/

    Onward to pics!
  • Im pretty bummed about the oil pump failing.. but it just forces me to do what i want sooner. So i guess thats bitter sweet right?

This week its getting a fairly fresh d15b vtec. Engine has about 70k on it since it was rebuilt. Im going to keep it automatic too :)
So if anyone has pointers on that I'd love to hear! I know Dmorty did the same and used an accords linkage so ill have to look into that. Hopefully I won't need to do much modifyin.

So the goal this week is to
    1. Find an ecu for it. 2. Convert to mpfi/obd1. 3. Swap engines.

We shall soon see how ling this takes..
  • alright so after an ENTIRE week (felt like an eternity) I finally have some good news. I found a rebuilt d15b2 with zero miles on it. and today I finally finished putting it in. so heres some picks of the new engine.

I also picked up an auto mpfi ecu and Y8 manifold. waiting on the dizzy.

and I also picked up a new/better rear pass door for EFParts.com (thank you MOE!)

    so heres the new motor!

heres the old one... something seems reeeeally wrong here.

I still need to adjust the auto kick down cable, and somewhere along the line my speedo cable took a shit too. T>T

I need to also replace my plugs from under the dizzy, my fan isnt kicking on and my temp gauge isnt iether in the cluster.

all things considered though, Im relieved that its not all in pieces any longer.

My buddy is giving me his DA seats here soon.

    SO THATS MY UPDATE!
  • oh I also put on a no name header. which is also weird.. because the 02 sensor isnt hooked up, and I have no check engine light??

Would you mind posting a picture of how you mounted the arm rest?
  • Would you mind posting a picture of how you mounted the arm rest?

Ya for sure. but Its just two screws on either end.
  • What car is this armrest off of??
  • so this wagon is now my gfs. see the story was, I bought this one with plans to do alot, but then found the 89 wagovan. so she bought me the wagovan and I traded her my white one. so now Cody and his lady and me and mine need to do a photoshoot ;) haha. whats cool is it would be all the colors too! red, brown, white, blue!

  • also attempted to fix the seat. It didnt turn out the best, I want to work with it a little more, but its much better than a seat cover, or a HUGE hole. bout to sew up the little one here shortly as well.
    505.jpg

and heres a pic of the wagons height so far. not happy with it yet. still needs more low.
    506.jpg
  • Maybe some spacers?
  • Yeah maybe What Size? would you suggest?
  • Anywhere from a half inch to a inch i guess would be good. Make sure don't go to wide with it.
