Rebled the brakes some more. Still not 100% right. I've got an ok pedal to drive on if I'm just cautious, but I'd like to get it 100%. Put about 10 more miles on her and put some fuel treatment in the tank. Here is a quick little pano I did of my interior after cleaning/vacuuming it out.
Got the brakes worked out! Since I got that done tonight I'm going to nut up and drive her into work the 50 mile round trip. I went ahead and put my 97-01 Cherokee wiper arms on with new blades just in case it rains! (Those newer arms have the clip style blades instead of the pin style.
I got my local front plate mounted. These have been around since I was a kid.
The other day on the way to work my clutch line blew, I was luckily able to get one ordered in time to swap it on my lunch break. Otherwise not much else is going on with it.
The next day after my last post I ended up having to put a coil in it, I think I'm going to go ahead and replace the CPS too because they usually aren't in stock at the local stores and my work doesn't carry it. That's something that could leave me stranded and I noticed some of the loom/wire sheath looked a little melted in a small section.
Well today I picked up one of the bigger pieces to my lift puzzle. I'm converting to spring over axle for about 5.5'' of lift, and this axle is a great upgrade. 31 spline shafts vs 27, larger diameter tubes, shafts, and ring gear. Rear disc, factory 3.73 lsd. The good ol' tried and true Ford 8.8!
At this point I have everything I need for a spring over axle long arm lift either at the house or in the mail. I'm going to use a set of TJ Wrangler coils for the time being to just lift the front to get my measurements of where the rear sits so I can order coils for my height. Aside from the spring over lift in the rear which will typically net about 5.5''-6.5'' I plan on using Cherokee shackles to drop it down about 3/4'', ideally it will be around 5'' of lift total. My long arms are Rock Krawler and good god are they beefy! These things are completely solid and weigh about 26lbs a piece!
Got in my spring plates and shock mounts from Ruff Stuff Specialties. Wendy's wouldn't have had to ask where the beef was for so many years if they would have asked me first!
I had my buddy take some real pictures so everything I had wasn't from my iPhone, but I wanted these before it went under the knife since it is pretty original!
Yea man, the perspective is what I really like about a 'real' photo. lol
Got the rear 8.8/spring over axle conversion knocked out tonight. The front long arm setup still needs to be done, but that'll get knocked out in the coming weeks. Talk about a gangsta lean!
I got the final piece to this particular puzzle today...now to get some time to wrap it up!
I decided to go with the Rubicon Express 5.5'' coils. I thought of finding a 6'' to compensate for the bumper and winch after it's lifted but I decided to give these a shot because I've heard nothing but good things.
Today we made some headway with the front lift. We got the long arm brackets mounted and welded in, and we modified the crossmember to work with my Peugeot transmission. Out of the 3 holes on each side for the crossmember to mount to the Peugeot uses the front two whereas the most common AW4 and AX15 use the rear two. So we basically did some trimming and added a plate to 'space' the crossmember back to the two holes I'll use when I install my AX15. Sunday we plan on doing all of the bolt in installation since we ran out of day light today.
Thanks man! Unfortunately I can't take any credit for the welds though, my friend who is a pipe fitter by trade laid those bad boys for me!
Got the 33x12.50s on, I'm going to need a different set of rims. The backspacing isn't right for the 1 ton steering so I have like 2 inches before it contacts the tie rod end.... The cab is right at 6' tall.
Beauty and the beast....the beast almost eats the beauty! haha
I sold the small tires/wheels I took off and picked a set of these up at Summit Racing Thursday night. Mounted them up yesterday! 15x8 3.75'' backspacing.
It rides well, although something like this does ride different than a typical street car. lol
I got the steering set right to get my radius back, my sway bar endlinks installed, and bypassed the rear load sensing valve. I am really happy with the finished product and ride height! I attached a photo of the exact fitting needed for bypassing the valve with the 8.8 in hopes it saves others some time getting the right one the first time!
I hope all of my pics aren't killing you guys! haha
I put on some new outer glass seals because the old ones were so hard and brittle they were scratching my glass and breaking away. Not to mention they'd cut you if you put your arm up! I also had a spare mirror that I put on that wasn't faded out.
The stabilizer was pretty shot so I went ahead and replaced that since pretty much everything else had already been done. I still need to take it in for an alignment to get the caster just right but it's been driving fine so far.
And of course I had to get some pictures of it next to my old XJ which has changed a lot exterior wise. Rubicon Anvil paint, hood vents, armor to replace the old pocket flares, new front and rear bumper, WARN winch with OBA, etc.
I got my winch mounted in the bumper and installed some cube LEDs on the stinger. I haven't wired any of it up just yet because my battery doesn't have enough CCA for the winch so I figure I'll wait and get a new one first. I had to recently replace the CPS, coil (again), and rotor (again). I also made a homebrew intake for the RENIX 4.0.
Anyone think my CPS was bad?
This was the early stage before I rerouted the hoses and put in a heatshield.
Rev this thing is looking badass!! I've always had a soft spot for these! I'm weird, I've always liked outside the box vehicles. Well I guess we are all weird on here we love WAGONS... haha
Haha truer words have never been spoken! And thanks!
Not much going on here. I've got my front ARB 30 spline air locker and 30 spline hubs. The inners and outer shafts will be upgraded from 27 splines. I've got the front and rear 4.10 gear sets and install kits but haven't made my mind up on which setup I want for the rear diff. I may just rebuild the LSD but I'm weighing more towards a full case locker to replace the weak link in the 8.8. We'll see though! I did fill this thing up for less than $20 the other day and I never thought that would happen. lol
Awesome to see a fellow MJ owner on here! Must be some addiction to vehicles that have 50% massive aftermarket support and 50% no support what so ever. At least you don't see them every day right? Mine looks like yours did a year ago though... so I'm jealous.
Awesome! Thanks for the kind words man, and I can definitely agree on the support for the shit we love! lol
The clutch is still a little wonky after replacing the leaking internal slave cylinder. Double and triple clutching it works most of the time. I've currently got my AX15 being rebuilt so that will just go in instead of dropping the POS BA10 again to fix it. I got a JCR rear bumper kit that is a DIY. My buddy is welding it up for me since he's a boss with that stuff. Aside from that not much has changed with it recently. Right now the trans issues are the only reason my lockers/gears aren't done.

A shot next to my old XJ after the repair.

Look at that cute little Dana 35!

Cut away the factory lower control arm mounts.
We have a two link setup!
Even on the pizza cutters I'm loving the ride height!
Parking brake doing it's job!
And all back home with the children!
A few odds and ends left to take care of but otherwise she's good for now!

Just a shot with my buddies XJ.
