What the hell, bro?! The people who like the "Wagon Attack" videos are mainly there for the CAR aspect. The videography (or whatever it's called) is secondary. He seems to have forgotten that. "Horses shaking their manes in slow motion!".... Wow, um, Awesome. He proves it at the end of the video: epic soul/car crushing. I understand it's an old car, that isn't worth much in the grand scheme of things, and can even accept it's crushing. But no explanation?
Options:
1) he's trading up to a new EE Wagon: no need to be so dramatic with the misdirection BS, and you should have removed your pedal assembly first.
2) he's given up on the wagon and old Hondas all together: quitter. At least pass the torch
3) he thought this would be an epic ending to the Wagon Attack trilogy: I need your parts, dude. You should know how it is in the EE community, and should have shown the car (and us) more respect by sharing it.
In the end, I know it's his car, his video, his life, etc. personally, I feel this car and these videos really showed how the wagon and their owners can differ from the rest of the Honda and sport compact arenas. With the car and the videos, he kind of became the prime example of our cars. Certainly not exactly like all of us, but easily the most widely known. To end it by crushing it was wrong. He said, "hey guys. Me too! I love this thing too." Followed by: "I'll just crush it. They won't care why." That thing you crushed was our common ground.
I feel feel like I can't quite put it into words....Ah!
What if Bam crushed Fool's Gold with no explanation?
See, right? It's his car, but we all admire him for it. I'm not mad. I just feel left out.
One of the things you should know the most about life, is no one owes you anything. Especially an explanation.
I understand how you feel. But you're coming across as quite selfish. It's his car to do as he pleases. He doesn't owe you any damn parts.
Some people make peace with closing chapters in their life differently than others. I admire his ability to destroy something that has gained him so much attention. I'll go so far as to applaud it. Too many kids are on the internet trying to be famous for doing nothing more than blabbing a bunch of nonsense. He took what made him popular, and destroyed it.
Thanks for the videos, Luke. They have forever changed our community.
As I posted in my Facebook comment. This story is special to me….
One night almost exactly 4 years ago while sitting in A&P school wasting time, I came across this video called "Wagon Attack" I clicked on the link and that one mouse click changed my life.
Being a Honda enthusiast anyway, and never having paid the wagon a second glance, I was blown away. By the car, but mainly how well the video was put together. I turned to my buddy Kenny,
who is also a car guy, and said "Check this shit out" followed by "I am gonna get me one of those wagons!"
It was that night I logged on to hondacivicwagon.com for the first time. And… being a man of my word, get me one of those wagons was exactly what I did!
Never looked back. I never had plans of a raging turbo wagon hard-on, or drifting through puddles, or jumping dunes. I just thought a 4wd Honda would be badass. And it is.
Civicwagon.com has been a really fun part of my life. I enjoy the community and the cars so much, not only my own wagon, but sharing my experiences, reading all of the builds,
going to meets, and hanging out with like minded folks I have met here! It is my favorite place on the internet (except the ones I delete from my browser history) which is pretty special
considering the internet is endless. All this credited to that little red Wagon with skulls all over it.
That being said, I do not fault Luke for what he did. Look at the wagon, it was falling apart. All the $ it must cost to ship it back?? I'm sure he never wanted to "part it out" so
some fucktard could try and get $300 for a hazard switch from the Wagon Attack Wagon. I may have done the same, well, maybe I would had epic crashed it off a waterfall or something
but we could said "I would have done" all day. He did exactly what he wanted to do or felt was best which is exactly what you should do in life - Whatever the fuck you want!
He had his fun, it's time was done.
Mad props for the epic cinematography this crew came out with, and the fame of the Wagon Attack series which will live on for ever. Yes, I am sad a wagon died, but I am sad every time
I go to the junk yard and see a wagon off the road. They can't all live forever. I really appreciated mine on the ride home from work today, perhaps a little more so than ever!
I crushed my families 454 suburban, because it was time and I couldnt bare the thought of someone else behind the wheel.... Been there and done that... completely understand. ?.. still... its a sad day in wagon land.
Can we just think about this from a financial standpoint for a minute? They talk about how much it cost to get a car to Iceland, at the end of the day, if the car got fucked up as bad as he makes it sound. It seems easier to just cut your losses, fly back home, find a new wagon and drop an engine it. That seems cheaper than bringing a car back home that probably isn't worth much, even for parts. I dunno, I think he mentioned more of the story coming out in the BTS the video soon, pretty stoked. I'm sure he crushed it because he didn't want someone else driving it. He's also selling shirts, which I picked up! The $19 shipped was well worth the entertainment in the wagon attack series!
"Unfortunately we couldn't sell it, it had to be crushed as part of customs and our temporary import."
So there you go - they wouldn't have been able to part it out or sell it, and it wouldn't have been worth shipping back. Logical I guess. Still very sad.
Seriously though... the car doesn't look like it would have been safe on any road as a daily so in reality he gave the car a pretty awesome send off.
You have to remember a couple of things and these are my theories.
I've never personally met Luke or Matt but here is what I have noticed about these guys.
I'm on EF-Honda with them, have bought many parts from them both stand up guys.
I've also been on there long enough to know that they are a core group and know the hell out of honda's especially cheap.
They have built various cars.
Gutty (crx) and also the rally sedan that looks like the subaru 555 car. I posted it on my fb page that it was so close that people thought it was a subaru but it was a civic sedan with rt drive system.
I know he kind of got the goodie out of the red one.
But also I'm betting it did cost an arm and a leg to get it over to iceland and maybe he ran out of funds. He is still a teacher by all means.
I'm not defending anybody but have also realized that if a car is gone (rust wise) there is no way in hell I will sell it on.
My sedan was bad enough that you could see inside from underneath. I vowed my family would not ride in it and never did, it was gone to the crusher days after seeing that.
hahaha so much emotion over a big chunk of formed steel.
I had some people on craigslist giving me shit for parting out my wagon instead of selling it whole (dude such a rare car so sad to see it just get parted out blah blah blah). But all you have to do is ask those people if they would like to start their build with a rusty ass frame and it shuts them up pretty quick.
doing a little Easier Said that Done viewing at home for some friends this weekend.
Wagon Attack 2 still inspires me , and keeping the saving money by not buying an EVO gag is still funny since my roommate and another close friend have one. Cant wait to see what they do next.
If you guys want to complain / bitch / piss / moan / cry / or whatever. Douche the sand out of your vagina, man up, and make your own fucking video.
He made some cool videos, one of which inspired me to lift Jane and do stupid stuff a wagon should never have done. I'll keep on doing what i'm doing even after wagon attack wagon is gone.
Obviously the video worked. It has got everyone's attention. I think that was the point, to lure you in, climax and how else to end it? I think shipping the car was more than enough. If he could ship the car back everyone would want, a wagon attack 4. I don't think the car had another video in it. :applause:
even if you couldnt bring parts you could always ship them i mean if youre gunna go all out might as well GO ALL OUT but instead of bitching im just gunna say.
its sad all those parts went to waste but like it was said, his car he can do whatever he wants with it if you dont wish you could bring your wagon out somewhere and fuck around like these guys you might be a BAND-WAGONEER
i think im mostly just pissed i need the rear section of the driveshaft and i just saw it destroyed lol
you can tell they had to make due with the situation they were in they had all the filler material after the radiator accident - notice the hood fitment

Bam's car. You probably don't realize he almost just sold it. If he wants to douse it in gasoline, I'll be there with a lighter...

Fucking agree X10000000
I've been waiting years for Wagon Attack III. I guess I now know what happens after Wagon Attack II...
RIP Wagon, I won't pass judgment though. I trust that he must have had a good reason for what he did.

I don't want his beat up banger-parts, I got the movies & memories.
And I think we all need to name one of our kids Charb.
I've never personally met Luke or Matt but here is what I have noticed about these guys.

Haha, I guess what's done is done
i was more interested in the boat honestly
at least we all got a little closure, time for some one else to start making inspirational wagon vids I guess
He made some cool videos, one of which inspired me to lift Jane and do stupid stuff a wagon should never have done. I'll keep on doing what i'm doing even after wagon attack wagon is gone.
Great work, guys!

Now I feel as though I must copy and find an EPIC way to send off one of my wagons...
