Steering Wheel Vibration when stopped

Hey guys,

just had a 1988 cream colored wagon shipped in today im glad to be a member :)

Everything works decent, except for one thing, im hoping you guys can pass on some wisdom.

When the car is stopped and i have my foot on the brake (while car is in drive) the steering wheel and entire car shake pretty vigorously. However, if the car is put into park it is fine. The car is also fine when in motion and braking, there is no vibration.

Any ideas? My buddy mentioned maybe there is a vacuum leak at the brake booster?

    Does the vibration stop if you let off the brake? Try dropping it in neutral and putting the parking brake on. If so, it's probably the vacuum leak. Mine does the same thing.
