Looks very nice. How long did it take for them to make everything? What are you going to do for the carpet?
The line was long until it was my turn, probably 3-4 months maybe more, I do not even recall, but they have waited for the right fabric of my color to get there.
The making process I believe took them about 2-3 weeks at most.
Due to the request of the panel pictures, I unwrapped it and took more pictures, most of it is in leather, but a few parts are left as painted black plastic.
It feels really good.
Someone asked about the rug, so I added that as requested.
By the way all plastics and the dash was blue before, not black. I myself am quite impressed with the work they did.
Looks great! That interior is going to set this thing apart from the rest for sure. The most we see on here is a front seat swap, but a complete reupholster of the interior is rare among us wagon owners.
The work took quite a while to get done, but the cost is around 1620 usd, but since I paid cash I got it to be 1260 usd. I know it is quite an investment but I really want to make my first build project as good as I can get it to be.
I just can't believe how long everything takes to get done, but I will keep going at it for sure.
I really want to thank you guys for the support. Not many people understand the love for the wagon, and why anyone would redo the seats and in such a fabric. It means a lot to me that there are a group of people that support what I do. Many thanks for telling me I am not crazy.
Lol, 1260USD, man, I could drive to your interior guy and still be cheaper than here in the Netherlands,
Interior really looks immaculate, I'm jelly man.
And yes, good work takes time and loads of cash man. But still, you cant really put a price on the smile everytime you're going to drive it.
Seriously, just the smile from the first fire-up and short drive is worth every single dime going into it
Flares look crazy, not the look I would go for but definitly really curious how the end result will look!
I found that the rear bumper holder is all rusty and dead, so we will have to figure out a way to make a new holder for the bumper.
I tried to get a used one but all seem to have rusted away with time.
Also, another problem I am facing are all the rubber parts in between windows and doors have bits and pieces missing:
You get the idea, and I will try and get them from another guy that is parting out his wagon. But I wonder can they be made from scratch or adapted?
Furthermore, I am left with a few interior pieces that need to be taken care of, meaning I need to paint some of the interior plastics black and figure out if I should get my headliner redone.
Here is a problematic piece:
Back to the body work, I got the holes filled that were used for them ugly lights:
Moreover, the front lip of of VR6 or GTI mk3 golf is being added:
Also, I have almost decided what color my car should be:
Please tell me should I go for mercedes cla more gray color or bmw more brownish color?
Oh and the bottom of the car is being sprayed with dinitrol that prevents my beloved car from rusting from the bottom!
Finally the gear box is attached to the engine, and the car is moving out of the prep job garage for paint.
I am making final arrangements to get the car painted ASAP. But it seems it is very difficult to get the car painted in frozen bronze metallic BMW color.
So I might go with old honda Y56 phoenix yellow.
Here are some pics:
And I am not sure if I mentioned it but the bottom of the car got sprayed with anti-corrosion stuff to protect it from upcoming winters and rust.
Oh and also I got 2 bags full of rubber seals from another wagon as well as other small bits that were missing from my wagon.
Next week I hope I can get yall pics of the car getting painted!
Cheap and easy from the states. Try whatever parts site you use other there and you should find plenty of them. Buy two while you are at it. You or a friend will need one again.
All the exterior parts are being painted black, some with matte finish, some shiny, and most of them as you can see in pictures below have this rough plastic feel, which I really love.
Here are the pics:
Black all around windows.
Door handles, and all the moldings in the rough finish. Take note all the parts already have a bunch of dust on them as well as the car.
Mirrors - YELLOW.
Here you can see how the black rough plastic paint looks. Now it is time to put all of the exterior together, get the wheels on, and roll the beast into our garage for more work!
That yellow is sweet! For the belt moldings and rocker panel covers, I used a rubberized undercoating that was paintable and sprayed some matte black on it so it could have the texturized look to it. Anyways, great build!

That is exactly the word I was looking for - texturized black paint for plastic parts.

I will let the pictures do the talking instead of me, but I am glad to announce the body work is moving forward!
I thought the wheel arcs will look much worse, but now they seem like they were always there to begin with.
I am glad to see that it is looking good.
Aaaaand thats it for now!
It feels really good.

Great Work!
Update is this - the bumpers are getting shaped to fit correctly with the huge fender flares that were made.
I just hope the wagon NEVER gets crashed into anything, because all that custom work will be almost impossible to get fixed.
Here is how it looks:
Dat wheel gap tho. The body work will most likely be done in two more weeks.

Why does it suck? I know it does not fit properly and I had to get a 3rd piece to get it all snug. But I do want that more mean look.
Thanks!
Also, a bit more body work on the car, it is getting closer to the paint shop by day.
I also need to start making a huge "to do list" for the car when it gets all painted.
Finally the gear box is attached to the engine, and the car is moving out of the prep job garage for paint.

But here is what my GF made me for valentines day!
I think you guys will like it!
She drew 2 shuttles and I am so glad she approves of the wagon!
Paint is not here (it finally is), and now the guy doing my Honda is SICK. And has been sick for more then a week.
It sucks very bad but hey they said they might start painting during the weekend! As soon as there will be progress I will slap it on here.
For now while reconstructing the heater I ran into a slight problem:
Yeah that seems to be broken. I wonder if I can find an easy replacement!
Boom! Y56 phoenix (spoon) yellow wagon!
I didn't expect Yellow!!
No offense but I don't like it!!
To each it's own!!

Progress!
But the thing is very dirty and dusty. It is hard to see the true colors, but it is slowly coming together!
