Where did You find the armrest? I am looking for a while, but nothing found..

An old 4th gen honda fan sold it to me. He also has chargespeed front lip and mid wing. But he is not ready to part with those unfortunately. I believe I really got lucky!

Cant wait for the completed pics, that interior fabric is awesome.

Is the arm rest for hatch or wagon?
The Wagon ones are much wider at the bottom. Hatch wont fit properly.

I am not sure Vladi, but if it is too small I bet we can work something out with a heatgun!

Here is the same red wagon that I took pictures of before, I bet you guys will like whats inside.

FYI it has 190 kW of power!

Also a little update on fenders.

Rear fenders do not look so hot yet:

    257.jpg

But the artist is doing work on the fronts!

I cannot wait to see how it turns out..

    258.jpg

Also, I am getting final touches done to the motor:

    259.jpg

From what I read these are supposed to run well with a high CR d16z6.

That's it for a small update!
  • Good stuff Tadas! Keep it up.
  • Well guys it seems that my car has been just sitting there after it got welded up for almost 3 months now.

This happened because the car was waiting in the line to get into a body shop of my buddy.

However, the things that I cannot do myself like weld, sew and paint are already in progress!

The interior is already being done as we speak, I will reveal all the details after it gets done, but I can assure you that it will be top quality when it's done.

The car itself is moving into the body shop tomorrow, and I cannot wait for it.

Oh, I also got a Volkswagen VR6 front lip that will get thrown onto the wagon.

And some things that did happen during the time of waiting:

    126.jpg

Yeeees my 15x8 ET0 wheels came!

    127.jpg

    And they got mounted.

    128.jpg

    129.jpg

    Onto these new tires!

The wheels are watanabe RS copies by rota, but meh I cannot spend 1000 usd+ for each wheel.

The tires are never used, but they are from year 2007. I got these because I wanted a wide tire, and I could not find anything other then this set of 205/50-r15s.

I really wanted to get larger ones but they only make toyo proxies 888 in like 235/50r-15s but those are really expensive and track oriented.

Furthermore, I will start and work on all other parts/things that need to be done since the shuttle project has moved forward!

So today I finally installed and repainted the oil pan that was missing. I got it from a buddy but it also took a while since we waited for his shuttle's engine to die so that we could take the rt4wd pan.

Here it is! Engine is almost complete, I just need to put in new spark plugs, and other minor dress up things.

I will move on to installing the trans this upcoming week.

    1.jpg?t=1410125579

I hope the project from this day on will keep moving forward each day until I can finally drive the car after a year of dragging this project along!
  • Today I finished painting the parts of the belt cover that I forgot to paint with some black nail polish and I installed new spark plugs.
  • Today is a good day, the wagon finally moved into my buddies body shop. We also got the necessary materials to prep the car for paint.

    179.jpg

Take a note that we are celebrating that the car got into the shop after such a long time with coffee and cookies!

Nice man! When do you expect to be finished?

I dig the fabric you chose for the interior! When is that scheduled to be finished???

The interior should be done within two weeks. It will be quite expensive, but I want to keep the old school look and I got the old audi s fabric from the 80s. The other pieces will be covered in black leather, and the steering wheel will be thicker with the best leather I could find. I almost went and got the perforated merc. amg leather but went back to simple leather. As soon as it is done I will get it on here.

The whole body/paint work should be done within a month of time. I will go see the car once a week to make sure everything is going as planned. But I was told the car needs to get some work done then sit around and so on for it to be prepped and painted properly.

Since the engine is almost sorted out, and so is the interior/exterior my concern now is suspension. I have read numerous threads on this forum and what people use to lower/improve the handling and looks of our cars.

From what I understand coilovers are the way to go in order to lower the car properly. Also, the spring rates for the coilovers that I want to get are 336 at the front and 224 at the back. They are BC Racing coilovers and have dampening adjustability so I think I can set them up nicely. From my understanding stock rates are ridiculously soft and no coilover springs have those.

Furthermore, I know I need to get rear sway bar in order for my car to turn in nicely, and rear camber kit as well as front adjustable upper control arms in order to correct the camber when I lower the car.

I also think I need to replace most of the suspension bushings and do the rear diff bushing mod that Vipwryann wrote about.

If I am missing something in the suspension department please let me know, because I will start making orders since the current height and ride of the wagon is unacceptable.
  • Today, we got the flywheel and clutch on, and got ready to put the transmission on, however I got to get a new clutch release bearing tomorrow.

I love all of this work. The fabric you choose for the interior is sweet to.

    Thank you SPW.

I am thinking about test fitting my new wheels to see how the new fenders look with them. But I might just wait it out until next week. Not sure.

The clutch release bearing will be here tomorrow so I will get the gearbox on tomorrow.

Today I did check out how the body work on the wagon goes, and I like how it is turning out.

    219.jpg

    220.jpg
  • Sadly, I did not get the transmission on yet, but no hurry the car is not close to being done yet in the body shop.

However, I did go and test fit the new wheels that are 15x8 ET0, with 225/50r15s

I was thinking that those huge fenders will be waiii too big for my wheel set up. Boy was I wrong.

In the rear it seems to be just flush, in the front it sticks out like mad. Thats et0 8inches and 225's for you.

Do not underestimate meaty tires to smoke them 316i bmws.

It has really deep dish, and now I dream about my car being yellow and slammed.. Or I might just keep it like a truck to rock in the beach dunes during the winter!

    359.jpg

    360.jpg

    361.jpg

Also, I cannot believe just how much wider the new combo is compared to stock!

I am really glad I went all out with this aggressive set up. I want to get people mad and turn heads.
  • MorhMorh Band Wagon
Crazy setup! Its gonna look wild. Keep up the good work!
  • Here is a little pic for you, so you know how your wagon will look once it is dumped. Mine is sitting on 16x9 and 16x10s.

    75.jpg
  • Your wagon was my inspiration to go wild on the fenders. I even have pics of your wagon sitting in the guys doing prep work for my cars shell. However I never saw your car finished rolling in the sunlight.
  • HAHA glad I am still an inspiration to someone. Unfortunately life has gotten in the way of the wagon. I had plans on making this something special for my wife to roll around in. However she came down with Ovarian Cancer not long after I stripped her down. The wagon has had work done on it here and there but it has mostly just been tucked away. All it really needs is some wiring done and a few small things to be completed. I can only hope that one day I will get it finished. Thanks for using my wagon as inspiration. I was pretty sure my wagon had been forgotten :nightmare:

Sorry to hear about your wife. And yes your wagon is still an inspiration to many people I think. I hope to see it roll out of garage all shiny one day!

But I cannot wait until my wagon gets painted and I can finally work on it again!

It has been a while yet again and my plans to finish the shuttle get pushed back again,

However, I will share the progress that is going on.

First, the interior. I wanted to keep the stock interior look, but to refresh the whole deal.

So I looked all over the place for a fabric that I would like, which turned out to be a hard task.

However, finally I found what I wanted ( a kind of old grandpa's shirt style ) material that comes from an original 80's audi s1 I believe.

It cost quite a bit to keep all the original threads and patterns of the seats,

But I wanted them to have all the small bits as they were originally, for example the small deal that goes around headrests and other bits as well as anything that was missing from the seats or got old had to be repaired.

Also, I got the whole front panel covered in leather, as well as doors where they had leather also leather was put on. Other pieces of interior got painted black.

Furthermore, I asked them to fatten up the stock steering wheel and asked them to put the bestest leather they ever had. And darn does the wheel feel good! I actually think it is nicer then a merc. benz s-class 500 from 2005 that I drove a few times.

Lastly, the rug that goes underneath the seats and in the back is made from scratch using an old one as template.

Here is a preview of interior:

    391.jpg

    392.jpg

    393.jpg

    394.jpg

    395.jpg

The level of detail on these pieces and the niceness to touch is just astounding. The repaired seats are also very comfortable and soft.

Oh and also the stitching on the wheel feels great, I have to admit that I did sit on the newly made chair with the steering wheel in my hands,

and imagine myself driving the wagon!

Wow. That's looks really good! What color are you going to paint your wagon?

    The interior looks amazing!

    Off the charts.
    Please show me more!!!
  • Awesome stuff Tadas!! I wanna see more pics :)
  • That fabric was a great choice. It just looks so rad!
  • 90 RT4WD (Cody)90 RT4WD (Cody) Senior Wagonist
    That is amazing!
  • Very nice! The front panel is painted black?
  • Everything looks amazing and I think the fabric fits a wagon so well. When you get a chance can you please take pictures of the dash? Was the dash damaged before being wrapped in leather?
  • Now THAT interior is taking wagon restoration to a new and crazy level. I like it! Would you be willing to share a ballpark figure on what that work costs?
  • TadasTadas Wagonist
Sorry to come back so late to all of you guys, but work caught up to me before the upcoming holidays!

I thought I had decided on the honda yellow which is phoenix yellow. But then I somehow think that I changed my mind back to renault racing blue that is in the first page of this threat. It is not final though yet.

Awesome stuff Tadas!! I wanna see more pics :)

Kila, I still did not want to unwrap everything, but I surely will do so and bring the items out of the basement into some good light and take more pictures!
    snowbrd wrote: »

By front panel, do you mean the dashboard? If so part of it is painted black and part of it is covered in leather I believe. I will have to recheck it to make sure!

I have been thinking about different fabrics and not many people thought this one will fit nicely, but most of them also think the wagon itself is ugly, so I never listen.

The dash was a bit damaged before, had scratches and so on. I will take better pictures of it and post them here pretty soon. Just have to get some more things done before holidays!

The work took quite a while to get done, but the cost is around 1620 usd, but since I paid cash I got it to be 1260 usd. I know it is quite an investment but I really want to make my first build project as good as I can get it to be.

I just can't believe how long everything takes to get done, but I will keep going at it for sure.

I really want to thank you guys for the support. Not many people understand the love for the wagon, and why anyone would redo the seats and in such a fabric. It means a lot to me that there are a group of people that support what I do. Many thanks for telling me I am not crazy.
  • Looks very nice. How long did it take for them to make everything? What are you going to do for the carpet?
