Tire size?

Alright I'm going to pick up a set of del sol wheels for $100 bucks but they need two new tires..

What size tire should I go with for good traction and handling?

  • i honestly would move up to some 15's and wrap some 205/50/15's on there.
  • 195-60/14 falken azenis rt-615. i have those tires for my turboed ef hatch, and they perform great around corners and hook up on launches.
  • if you are looking for cornering performance, these are not going to be the tire for you. good for daily driving and light snow. what exactly are you looking for out of yournew tires? cornering performance? aggresive daily driving? auto-x and daily driving? all season performance? i woorked at dicount tire for about 8-9 months, and i do know a good deal about tires.
  • Azenis are freaking AWESOME tires, but they wear out fast. I wanna try the new Ziex 912.

Those Sumitomos where on my father-in-law's Legend coupe when he got it. They were kinda noisy and the tread-blocks on the shoulders wore unevenly. Not bad for the money, though.
  • the Fusion HRi seems to be a very good all season tire for the price($1 less than the sumitomo).
  • I'm looking for something that is going to corner well (I go through turns really fast) and get good off-the-line traction, as well as wet traction..

I'm not going to be doing any racing, I just drive aggressive I guess you could say.

I also want something that isn't going to wear out fast...

I was also eying those Fusions, they look pretty nice.

Should be a good compromise between lateral and longitudal grip depending on tyre choice.

    i have those sizes ^^^ (195/50/15)

i love my tires, i gots Kumho Ascta AST all-seaon high performance tires, they handle AMAZING in the dry, in the wet.. i love love love them haha, can't say enough good stuff about them, oh, and they were only $41 a piece plus a $40 cash rebate ;) as far as wear goes, i put in about 5000 miles or so and they still look new.
  • 5000 miles and they still look new? You drive like a girl :D :D

    JUST KIDDING 8) 8)

 well, i might have to slightly rephrase *ahem* REARS look new.. hahaha fronts not so much, partly due to a SHIT alignment job thanks to my local Honda dealer, never taking my car there again. but um, yeah. point is, tires are awesome

but for the past month i have been babying my car, tryne save fuel and keep it happy, i drive 80 km a day, so thats why (school commute)
  • personaly i hate kuhmo tires, but to each his own.

    you have bad experience?
  • 195-55-14...I'm partial to his size over the 185-60-14.
Only drawbacks are the selection and price.

I'm liking the Toyo T-1S but I haven't put a lot of miles on them yet.

I just burned through my second set of 205-50-15 Kumho Ecsta ASX on my Protege...great street tire. And inexpensive.

haha.. wow. which model were they, you remember?

thats what my friend has on his

well, i'll make sure to keep away from the Solus. the Escta on the other hand, [borat] very nice! [/borat]
  • well, i guess it is possible that it(the swaying) was due to the tires on the front being of higher quality. either way, i'm never going to own a set.
