Thanks bro. Got it on the alignment rack today. Here's the details...

Gotta get adjustable toe arms. I ordered them.

Anyways, feels about 1000000 times better.

Haha, if you read back a little, you'll see I actually UNwiretucked the bay. The previous owner had it all tucked and I ripped all that shit out and replaced the entire cabin harness and engine harness to put it back to stock.

I could definitely do a better tuck than was on there (ie, no fan switch, multiple sensors shorting to ground, random horrible misfiring, my alternator eventually caught on fire) but I have no desire. To me, the looks arent worth adding all the extra points of failure in the already 25 year old wiring. I'm not building a show car, I'm just trying to go fast!

I have considered a rywire harness. But that's fairly low on the priority list .

Ty all for the kind words. Feels good to finally see this thing coming together!

    Prop's my friend.

Gonna be driving this thing at pikes peak international speedway on may 2nd. I really want to get a go pro for some in car footage. Not sure which would be best though, or how to mount it.
  • drfinkdrfink Wagonist
Shipped my spc adjustable toe arms today. Those little fuckers were expensive but my alignment should be perfect now.
  • If you haven't got much dosh you can pick up a generic action camera (usually not as good as a GoPro though) for pretty cheap.

Mount it inside if you don't want to worry about it falling off whilst driving :).
  • snowbrdsnowbrd Wagonist
Best place to put camera is inside, stick it to sunroof or to passenger windows! If outside, I like to put it on drivers side window, so the camera captures me driving and steering and the track!
  • drfinkdrfink Wagonist
No sunroof on my ee4. I got the dosh (European slang for cash? Lol) so I'll probably pick up a decent one.

Dyno time is scheduled for 11:30 on Friday! Yeaaaa!
  • Nice build man looking good
  • drfinkdrfink Wagonist
Thanks man. I'm just excited to get this thing on the rollers finally. Been in the works since October.

New Zealand is halfway around the world from Europe man

I love Dyno numbers, tho they don't say much.
  • drfinkdrfink Wagonist
Ooh. I just made myself look pretty dumb didn't I. Lol

I'll agree they don't day much. I'm more excited for the tuning part than the numbers. The real test will be getting this thing to the drag strip.

GoPro's are amazing. I have one for skiing and love it. Just got the suction cup and it's pretty damn good.

Holy shit! I have heard of this but didn't know it was real! If I can snag some studded snows, I'll do it! Gives me an awesome excuse to ski loveland too!
  • drfinkdrfink Wagonist
you never need an excuse to ski Loveland haha! I prefer Vail but that's just me.
  • bkmc24bkmc24 Senior Wagonist
Haven't been to vail. Copper, Loveland, Winter Park for Colorado is all I have been to. And Berthoud but that isn't a resort lol.
  • drfinkdrfink Wagonist
Definitely check out Vail next time you're up here! It is amazing

And she netted... 270hp / 220tq on a dynojet. Not too shabby. Probalby could have pushed it a little more but I wanted to keep the timing conservative because I want it to be daily driver-able. Graph looks a little peaky, but it is a small displacement 4 cylinder with a rather large turbo, lol. I'm hoping to see some more power starting lower once I port the head.

The motor is coming out, maybe this weekend but probably next, so that I can replace the crank seal and oil pan gasket. It started spraying oil pretty fucking bad on the dyno lol. Kind of nerve racking. I monitored the levels though and it looked alot worse than it actually was.

Dyno showed me a few issues which is good. I definitely need a better crankcase ventilation setup. The one I have just isn't doing it. Also, I need new injector clips. We actually blew one off completely on one pull. I'm glad the motor didn't fucking let go from leaning out, I would have been pissed. And that's about it, really.

    Current to-do list:
    Bodywork and paint
Heads by drew port on my head
LSD in the rear end probably an mfactory

That's about it really. The list is getting pretty small!!

How fun is it to drive? I have been looking into boost stuff for my wagon once the hatch runs this summer!
  • drfinkdrfink Wagonist
I haven't driven it that much, but I did a few highway pulls and let's just say I had a large smile on my face, lol.

I was scared to get on it too hard with it leaking oil so bad out of the oil pan gasket

Moral of the story: USE HONDA OEM GASKETS
  • bkmc24bkmc24 Senior Wagonist
Sick man. Seem's awesome. I'm hoping to be around your power if not a tad more for mine. But I also want to keep DD capability.
  • drfinkdrfink Wagonist
I could have easily made more power, I'm just scared of blowing up the transmission, haha.
  • drfinkdrfink Wagonist
My toe arms also came in today (SPC makes some really quality stuff) so I threw 'em on and went back in to get the alignment touched up.

    11.png

kind of weird that throwing on the rear toe arms would have messed up my front toe. idk. but it's all good now.

edit: actually it looks like they had it under a different setting then it should have been on, they had it under ef (not wagon) before and now they have it on 4 x 2 wagon. STILL not the right alignment setting, lol, but i'm sure it's damn close.
  • bkmc24bkmc24 Senior Wagonist
It isn't possible for suspension components not connected in any way other than their mounting points to affect each other. FYI lol
  • drfinkdrfink Wagonist
Yea, i figured out why, it was because they had the rack on a different setting
