vaccum problem I think. need input!

When I start my car after it has been sitting for a bit and it is in park it idles fine. as soon as I put it in reverse or drive the idle dive bombs down and is bogging really bad. I give it gas and at first it goes almost normally until I hit my brakes. After I hit my brakes it wants to die and has a hard time going again from a dead stop. Do you guys think I am lossing vaccum somewhere? I have been chasing this problem down for about three weeks now and I have run out of ideas. mechanical timing is in spec. it has new plugs with about 1500 miles on them. The car is a 1991 rt4wd civic wagon with a d16a6 and a auto tranny. any guidence would really help. Thank you.

Another thing i forgot to mention is that the brake pedal is hard when i am still on the gas. As soon as i take my foot off the gas the brake pedal has a huge amount of travel.
  • I would start by checking the big vacuum line that goes to the brake booster and the plastic one way valve in it.
  • A little late progress but I replaced the booster the one way valve and all the vacuum hose from the booster to the intake. Brakes are nice again. Still bogging though. Plugged cat or ignition timing? Really loses power going up hills and initial acceleration from a dead stop. Once the car gets going it has decent pickup.

Hey, did you end up fixing your problem?
Cuz I have a relevant issue...at random times my Wagon starts idling really low and boggs.
When I turn it off, it struggles to start back up unless I rev it for about 15-20 seconds...
    Any feedback helps!

    Thanks-Eddie

Both kind of sound like an igniter problem. I'll let someone else more experienced with Honda ignitions chime in...
