I'm new at this

My wife drove an 89 RT4WWD Civic wagon (blue) for a few years as she commuted back and forth across the Canadian border to Vancouver for school (we live in Bellingham, WA). The car served her well but it had a ton of miles on it and it started to give up the ghost. Without drawing this out unnecessarily...the wagon needs a new engine and it now sits in out driveway like the remains of a beached freighter. It has a broken rear hatch, what appears to be moss growing inside and is in pretty hopeless condition. In the meantime we purchased a Honda Fit that she uses to commute to work with (I'm close enough to walk or ride my bike) and sold off my beloved 87 Subie wagon. I decided that my mission is to get that blue Civic wagon working again and thought it might be good of if I found a community of friendly knowledgeable folks to learn from. After looking around this seemed like a good place to land.

I look forward to learning a lot and hopefully sharing photos of my success.

Thank you. Glad to be here. I'm not even sure where to start on this project. I knew enough about old Subarus that I could at least stumble my way around things but I have never really been a Honda fan (not that I dislike them, I've had six of them) I always considered them dependable, cheap to maintain cars, not something I would spend the time to fix up. This little blue wagon however is pretty cool so I guess it's time to learn new stuff.

You have definitely started in the right place. I am relatively new to posting here, but that first guy who replied (Bam-Bam) is nothing short of legendary in the civic wagon community. There is tons of useful info on this site, and if you can't find the info, just ask. Someone will surely lead you in the right direction with minimal harassment about searching before you ask. Several people on this forum have brought cars back from being abandoned in the woods or being molested by teenagers. Just read as much as you can stand to on this site and you should have no problem getting plenty of inspiration for your build. Just don't forget to take photos and start a build thread so we can see the progress. Good luck.
