He had some 14" beauty rings from the wheels that came with his liftback Celica, and let me have them if they'd fit. Test fitting one. He also gave me some Motegi center caps, so I have Motegi steelies now lol.
Final pics
As you can see I wasn't sure that just black from the trim down would look good, so I decided to do more of a Beagle two-tone thing and paint the fenders as well. I think it turned out pretty good for a cheap rattle can job. It's not perfect, but it was cheap and the main purpose was to stop the rust. Also, it's so nice not having a clicking CV joint. Coilovers are on the way, so that will be what comes next.
Yesterday I had a day off, so I decided to plastidip my trim and bumpers. I finished after dark so I don't have any pics yet. My coilovers are coming today so I'll post pics of drop and trim later today. So pumped about finally lowering this thing!
The black under the doors looks ok, but I am not a fan of the fender paint. But if you like it, that's all that matters. It is a very clean wagon nonetheless and with a drop will look sharp. Are you getting some different wheels also?
Well the paint was a cheap job to take care of the rust. I'll get it painted nice once I take care of some other things like wheels. Wheels will come soon. I might just throw the LS meshies off my EK on the wagon for import alliance though.
Sorry for the delay on pics. I kept getting home too late to take pics in good light.
First up, coilovers.
Pics before installation
Right after install at the height they shipped
Then after driving on the height they came at for a day I lowered it some more
I would lower it some more, but I wanna get some wider wheels first, and I don't really wanna ruin my OEM mudflaps. I might try and find another pair of mudflaps that I won't care about ruining.
Yeah I'd rather be patient and do things right the first time than rush and cheap out and regret it. Wheels will come, but I'm gonna do it right the first time not just grab whatever cheap wheels will fit ok for the time being.
Also, when I was installing my coilovers, the lower arm tightening bolt on the passenger side would go all the way in, but wouldn't get tight. It would just keep spinning, so today I ordered a replacement from HondaPartsUnlimited, and since they were cheap I went ahead an ordered a replacement for the drivers side as well.
I tried to put the LS Meshies off of my EK on the wagon to see how they looked, but the fenders were sitting on the tires, and I didn't want to raise the wagon, so that was a no go. I have a DC Sports/DC Sports knockoff 4-2-1 header on my EK, and as far as I can tell it should fit the wagon, so I'm considering swapping it. Not sure yet though. I really need some wheels. I'm thinking about maybe going with some XXR 501s in either silver or gold with a silver lip until I can afford something nicer.
Ordered some taillight tint. Decided I didn't care for whitewall look. This Saturday I'm planning on going to pull-a-part to try and find a front right fork, and then I'm gonna replace that and probably take the lock rings out of my coilovers for more low. I don't really want to, but these coilovers aren't going quite as low as I want them to.
Haven't posted in a while. I haven't really done anything to the wagon since I haven't really had the cash. I bought the wife a new car. 2005 Accord coupe.
About a month ago my Civic coupe was stolen. Police found it about a week ago and I got it back yesterday. Ignition is screwed up along with a few other things, but I know someone who has replacement locks for all the locks so I'm gonna fix it and finally sell it.
I also picked up a new wagon last week.
78 Corolla wagon. Battery is dead and the automatic transmission is going bad, but I plan on swapping in a manual and hopefully doing some engine work whether it be swapping in a 4AGE or SR20 or something in the future, or building up the stock 2TC a bit.
Also, forgot to say I've got a personalized plate coming in for the wagon. It should be in next month sometime so I'll be sure and post it up once I get it.
Been a while since I've been on here. Wagon was burning coolant really bad, so I finally decided to do the head gasket. Took the head off and sent it to the machine shop. Cam was scored too bad to reuse, so I ordered a new one. Got the head back, put it all back together, and it didn't want to start. We checked the spark and fuel and it was getting both. Did a dry compression test. 25 psi in #1, 115 in #2 and #3, and 50 in #4. Put some oil in and the compression went up. Rings are shot. Managed to get it running somehow, but it was smoking oil.
At this point I had a choice, rebuild the bottom end on the crappy D15B2, or swap. I decided that in the long run a swap would most likely be cheaper, so I ordered a D16ZC SOHC VTEC, a Boomslang OBD0 DPFI to OBD1 MPFI harness, and an ebay header. Hopefully it will be here next week and the swap will get done next weekend.
Also, pic of plate. Excuse the dirty wagon. It's an older pic.
Comments
First, a pic of the rust we were taking care of.
Step 1, sanding
Next was bondo and primer

Opinions on paint?

Here's the gold ones.
Opinions?
Yeah I have a hard time finding wheels that I think look really good on the wagon, but I think the 501s look pretty nice.
I like it.
I also did a super crappy shop of white walls.
I'm halfway considering it, at least while I have steelies.
Dragging flaps.
