my sister has gone thru 2 miatas, so we've had these lying around since the first one. we just took them and sprayed them gunmetal. she has 15" enkei's anyway. she didnt like the rims that came with the second miata, the stock BBS, so she took the aftermarket Enkei's that came with the first one.

Davens...still interested in getting your hands on those BBS? we still have them, with center caps and everything... :P

I found a few sets pretty easy:

...additionally, there are numerous sellers who think selling wheels individually will get them a higher price. You can get a set for about 160-200 that way.

I got all three sets of mine off Ebay.
    1 90-93 set for $99
    1 90-93 set for $130ish...had good tires
    1 94-97 set for $160ish

Thanks a lot Davens! :D I keep my eye on them, a coupld days left on some of the auctions. I kinda don't like the center cap though..wonder if I could sand off the Mazda logo and put a honda one on there?
  • The center cap is plastic...so yes, I'd bet you could.
I did the same thing to a set of Hyundai rims that went on a buddy's Festiva. (that tiny car with 14s looked like a wagon on 17s).
I used an electric palm sander with three different grits...rough to smooth...and then shot it with some "aluminum" paint.
Came out with a nice smooth center cap instad of that slanted H logo.

LOL hop on those quik. theyre hard to find.

you should rock those duckie. they'd look great on your car.
  • I actually would. As long as you buy a set that has hub centric rings. Rota has come a long way in the last 6 years, and are not the wheels you used to hear about, breaking on the freeway after hitting a pothole, anymore. I have a buddy that auto-x with a set of slipstreams (wiht Falken Azensis) and he has nothing but good things to say about them. Heck, I'd seriously consider buying some GT3s for a Shuttle, if I had one. Who cares if they are knock-offs, as long as you like the look of them. And on the plus side, many of their styles are very light in weight.

The only negative feedback Ive heard was about the Attacks. I heard about it in a saftey stewart meeting for the scca. Aparantly there was a guy who had a set on his WRX and one came appart during a run. The spokes all severed off right at the hub at the rest of the wheel was found in a tree a few blocks from the event

Like I said though, I wouldnt worry to much about it unless your rolling the attacks during an event. On the street they are more than safe. Not quite as much g's on the commute ;)

hmm...thinkin' of using miata rims instead of going honda/acura OEM. there are a couple os rims that the miata had in 15's and 16's that wouldnt look too bad on the wagon. they weigh alot less than the SI, blades, and the fat fives. compared to 18lbs, they're like 14lbs or less.

    any input?
  • Miata:
    BBS OEM Alloy ('95 M) 15" x 6" 12 lb.
    Enkei 5-spoke alloy ('96 M, '97 STO) 15" x 6" 14.5 lb.
    '97 6-spoke polished alloy ('97 M) 15" x 6" 14.5 lb.
    '99-2002 Sport 5-spoke alloy 15" x 6" 13.1 lb.
    '99 10th Anniversary polished alloy 15" x 6" 13.1 lb.
    2000 SE polished alloy 15" x 6" 13.1 lb.
    '01-'03 5-spoke alloy 16" x 6.5" 15.5 lb.
    2001 SE 16" X 6.5" 15.5 lb.
    2002 SE 16" X 6.5" 18 lb.
    2003 SE 16" X 6.5" 16.2 lb.

    Integra:
    Acura Integra GS-R 94-95 15x6" 16.0 (Fat Fives)
    Acura Integra GS-R 96 15x6" 15.5 (Six Star)
    Acura Integra GS-R 97, LS/GS 98+ 15x6 15.0(Mesh)
    Acura Integra GS-R, GS 99, 15x6 16.3 (Blades)

So yeah, the Honda/Acura wheels are a little heavier, but not unreasonably so...
  • duckie8310duckie8310 Senior Wagonist
    would you?
  • Would I? Maybe...but there are a lot of good aftermarket wheels available for what you'd pay for the desirable 15" Miata rims. I guess it depends on if you find a good deal or not.

If I finish the set of Blades we had been talking about, I'll probably sell them and turn around and buy a set of the '97 GS-R Mesh. Or maybe just save a little longer and get the Volk TE-37 I've been promising myself.
  • duckie8310duckie8310 Senior Wagonist
    sounds good

hell, might as well go for the Volk...you get what you pay for. if you save up and get the good stuff....you can roll around in style.
  • What about Work RS-Beta Wheels?

  • I still like the Spoon SW388 Ultra Light Wheel..

or even a SW388 replica would do!!

grr i want new rims :x

i could have gotten a set from davens if my dad would have given up those BBS and not been so stubborn. oh well....the search continues.

davens, can you give me a shout if you find a pair of fat-fives in your area? and if you finish those blades too...i might pay for those :D
  • davensdavens familEE
Yeah, I'll let you know when (and if) I finish them. I'm surprised you would want to pay for them though...of the Integra rims, they are the heaviest..and you seemed concerned about weight.
As far as aesthetics...they're just okay, nothing special.
  • FSC4wdFSC4wd familEE
Check these out. I got them used off CL. The kid I got them from had the sickest Type-R Hatch.

well im not the one worried about weight, my dad is. to me, it looking nice is good enough. weight is a concern, but not my main. the blades, powder-coated in a different color would be nice on the wagon. but i just want new rims

still looking at the 15" '97 Miata rims....hey look alright. either those or the integra rims
