Hippy's 1st RT!

Never did a intro.. so Hey! Names Kevin... been on the forums for a bit just checking things out and waiting for the day to finally find a RT4wd! Gonna be a SLOW build but would love tons of input and ideas!

Well that day has finally come after months of daily searches and even almost deciding just to get a 2wd...

Little about her:
1988 Golden Beauty!
220k miles, Salvage Title, Not Running, Red hood >.<, 15" BBS wheels, ebay coilovers, some random exhaust... sounds good looks ... not so great, everything else stock also has seat tray mount... tray was missing

Already replaced Hood, a Grey Dash Garnish to Brown.. got a few missing interior plastics ( Thanks 2 Silvertoe88RT) and got her up and running... replaced Main Relay!

Got her from a friend that picked it up from Auction.. found out I had been looking for one .. long story short "Gifted" :encouragement:

And as far plans.. going to be a slow build but want to start w/ interior and exterior work since she is running well already.

    First things first:
Exterior: needs some front end work.. a new driver side fender.. driver side turn signal..
Interior: center vent! .. looking for some nice seats prefer bucket in a beige? would love some input on that.. Map light I know DA fits well but open to other suggestions..

Oh! and I just decided to order full interior LED's and a License plate / Turn signal LED's hopefully be here end of the week.. just need to find a map light asap
  • if a 90 civic hatch center vent fits a wagon,
i might be able to pull one for you from a junkyard lmk what
color and i can go check if you want

Where are you located! not sure if it fits but if someone could verify that would be awesome..I've been hitting the yards by my house every Wednesday (new cars come Monday/Tuesday) but we never get any EF's..

Also does anyone have any recommendations on seats in Beige or Brown that wouldnt be to hard to mount?

yea man i live in kansas and sometimes when im lucky there are a few things there.
i mainly go to two pickn pulls, one small and one that pretty big i'll go tomorrow to see
    if there is anything

Save up, spend the money & get your seats recovered. Nothing suits a wagon like wagon seats in my opinion.

Damn man that would be awesome! Really appreciate the help from you guys already!

Not opposed to spending the money.. but the original seats just are not very comfortable and would prefer a bucketed seat.. Has anyone put Recaro SRD's in a wago!? Would really like to throw any type of Recaro's into my wago...(named my puppy Recaro) so think that would be kinda cool..+ they would be comfy!

o.. been a bit since I've made a update, but had to put the RT on hold for a little bit.. had the Wife's birthday and got her a wago a few goodies!

I know its a bit off topic... but dont plan on starting her a build thread by any means...

Roof rack she picked @ junk yard
    455.jpg
Headliner! and Wink ;) Mirror + DA Map light
    456.jpg
found some mini visors ... thought I'd give it a try

    as for the RT...
    459.jpg
    just battery and connectors...

also found out she is burning oil pretty bad... doesnt smell or smoke.. but I noticed the Oil light popping on when I slow down.. check dipstick and it was low.
And found out the check engine light is on from ecu code 9 .. not really sure what to do at the moment but gonna hit the search!

I think I found them out of a Acura Legend.. not sure what year but it was above the rear view mirror.. then I just 3m taped them, plan on painting mounts black and recovering visors in left over tie dye!

So my conclusion is replace Dizzy? Not the most tech savvy but really trying to get more knowledge and hands on experience.
My dizzy looks like it has been through the ringer once or twice so that does kind of make logical sense to me..

Thanks for the input , forums have already helped me a ton

OK so been awhile since Ive had time to make a post or even spend anytime working on the RT.... few minor updates..
    Sedan vanity visor
    242.jpg
    Painted Mudflaps
    243.jpg
    244.jpg
I picked up a wood grain Cvcc steering wheel! started some minor sanding...
    245.jpg
still need to find a wood finish and figure out what color to paint the metal. Was thinking like honey wood w/ black metal interior?? Has 2 of the 3 horn buttons and all plastic backing.. but no center cover.

Also picked up a Volvo front lip from the junkyard...probably try to get it fitted this weekend depending on other projects.

Currently trying to figure out some suspension upgrades... but all the posts I read just confuse me more and more.
What I would like to do would be
-upgrade to 89+ style LCA's front and rear.. DA?(for stronger bushings/frame) or does that throw everything off?
-10.3" Brakes (EX or DA knuckles I believe) Does DA fit up clean or throw things off too much?
    -89+ struts of course

Ive read the DA knuckle post for bigger brakes which says it works no problem.. but have also read numerous other posts stating different things.. if anyone could just verify that Im not buying a bunch of stuff that wont work.. that would be AMAZING

What did that roof rack come off of? I'm really diggin it.
  • HumbleHippyHumbleHippy Band Wagon
It was off a old 70's? Datsun hatchback... When she picked it out I was not very fond of it.. but letting her do her thing... once it was installed I totally dig it for something a little different.

I did my wheel. It turned out fantastic!!
Mimwax Spar Urethane. No stain, it makes it too dark in my opinion.
