wheel shakes while braking, help! and mystery clunk!

I bought brand new rotors because my wheel was shaking like crazy while braking, these new rotors still shook a little bit when i bought them so i thought it was something else, now it shakes like it did before. Is it possible i got a bad rotor or could it possibly be something else?

Also i have a mystery clunk coming from the front end, my brother says it might be the inner tie rod bushings (some small plastic bushing under the rubber boot at both ends of the steering shaft. i have never changed those, can they be done without special tools?

    your shaking could also be bad tire wear. if you have old tires that might be the reason. sometimes when tires wear out they tend to not wear out evenly. also if you had to brake hard and skid abruptly you might get a bald spot. some bald spots are heavy and some are not. on the heavy youll feel it all the time. the less spots might be only felt more if you brake.

    so this might be one of the problem.

    My wife's wagon is doing the same thing. Shaking upon braking and clunking when she hits bumps.

    I am going to go out and see if there is any play in the ball joints. Lift the front end off the ground, grab the wheel and wiggle it up and down to see if I can feel any play in it. I am also going to check her wheel bearing kind of in the same way to see if maybe there is a little play in her bearings. I figured if anything pop the complete spindle assembly off and just have the mechanic press a new bearing and ball joint in. Can't hurt considering it is all original OEM stuff still stuck in there.

    Let me know if you figure out anything. I will let you know if I find anything out.

    Did you changed pads? My friends 300zx did that when we changed rotors and pads and the pads just had to be worn in. They were probably not cut evenly.

    One possibility is overtorqued wheels.Honda Civic's ROTORs are really bad when overtorqued.The rotors become ever so slightly warped.Any time a mechanic has to remove my frt.whls I loosen & retorque them again.Mines are shaking now.Even those "special" lug sockets that shops use overtoque them 'cuz the idiots don't know how to use them. :x

    Looks like it's bad hubs/bearings up front and a bad rack end bushing. both out of my power to change with the tools i have. crap.
