Band Wagon
originally i was wanting to buy a 3-door hatch, but this one popped up on the CL, and i jumped for it. Its a 1990 HCW DX 1.5. I have allways been a VW guy and this was my first Honda purchase. when i got her she had 101,000miles on her. I paid $1400 and i have put about $700-800 in her. She leaked oil when i got her and i got the head pulled from some good friends of mine at V-technicians in Austin, resurfaced the head, valve job,new front axles, and a newer muffler. I bought a cheesy air intake from a buddy of mine for 20 bucks, and drove her all over the state with no problems. Then one day as i was showing off the honda power, i popped my timing belt. I changed out the timing belt no problem and was stoked that it was alot easier than i had imagined. with a little help from some random people on the internet.
then she started overheating all the time. I realized my fans werent turning on so i thought that was the problem so i replaced the coolant control switch on the block, that got the fans working but didnt fix my overheating problems, ended up replacing the whole coolant system, radiator, waterpump, thermostat, hoses. Again, i am stoked on how easy it is to work on this car. Also, i replaced the back drum breaks, and threw on some new tires. Finally she was running cool.
I am stoked to find this site, and i thought it was cool to see people as stoked as i am with their Hondas. I am going to keep mine forever, it has been the best car i have ever owned.
She needs alot of work though, she is basically stock, except for the air intake, she really needs some struts springs, i wanna make her a little bit off road agressive. but i dont know, i was also just thinking of getting the AC working and make it a sweet daily driver.
My weather stripping on both front doors has gone to crap! it needs to be completely redone. Looking at all the members rides, makes me realize that i have so much work to make this honda look decent. like raginbulls!!

welcome to the board!
I know exactly where that is having been there a couple of times.
My grandfather used to own a spot in a retirement community in Pharr. I visited Corpus Christi in 1979 and 1989.
