transmissions to swap?

Hello,
We have a 1991 Base 2wd that we love but would like to have a taller 5th gear. I know next to nothing about Hondas and was wondering if there is another transmission we can swap in with a taller 5th. The car is bone stock with the 1.5 and 5 speed.

Try searching(not just here but google), it shares the same gearbox case as Civic and Integra of the same generation

do you have any experience with the 1.5 mated to an integra gearbox? does the engine have enough power to make that tranny useful?

Integra transmissions won't work. Different series engines in US at least. Won't bolt up.

The transmission from an 88-91 DX sedan or hatchback has a little taller final drive than the wagon box.

Beyond that, there's only the CRX HF trans., and it's so high- geared as to be useless in a wagon body with stock power.

Search the web a bit, I've seen charts before with all the specs of the different ones.

Strange, all NZDM/JDM DA Integras share same engine/trans as equivalent Civic counterpart. Wonder why they make USDM different?
  • usdm integras have b series motors accept the first gen it uses a d series. i think that nz-db8r means that integra not the da.

Yes the HF 5th gear can be swapped in.I've done a few. It'll drop highway rpm about 10%.
