New to Wagons - Vancouver!

Hey everyone, I'm Steven and I'm from the lowermainland, near Vancouver!

I just recently acquired a 1989 Honda Civic Wagon RT4WD, w/ auto tranny. It's stock save for a CRX muffler the previous owner stuck on which makes it sound hilarious, and has a lot of fender rust and rust on the rear hatch.

Couple questions; how hard is it to find replacement fenders to weld/completely swap in as well as a rear hatch? I'm on the fence trying to decide whether to try and save it or just drive it into the ground as a daily!

Any help would be awesome!

  • I remember that one from Craigslist! Didn't see that much rust in the pics though... Ya it's hard to find fenders, and any other wagon specific parts, let alone r/t's!
  • That's not good news!

I was poking around the forum... what about S13 fender flares? Would that hide all the rust; except the hatch, assuming I've got enough metal left to attach them?

Also how far fetched is it to salvage the hatch? Could I use POR-15 rust converter, then just bondo and sand over the rust patches? Or should I try to find a wrecked wagon and steal the hatch of that?
