The start of something beautiful

Okay so second attempt to post this hah.
Picked this 1986 2wd wagon up about a month ago for a pretty good deal, only one original owner and 182k. So far i have done plugs, wires, oil change, fuel filters, air filter, front brake pads, and two tires. Also picked up a new antenna (it was broken off) and have a new to me driver rear door because of bad rust above the window. I have a lot of ideas and plans for it so keep an eye out because there is more to come!

Be careful in your travels, it is very icy out there on the roads. :)

thanks chase the road was pretty bad coming to Raleigh area for about an hour we had to drive 25 or we started to slip off of the road but after that it was smooth saleing except all the nasty sludge all over the car.

I saw this on sale at sally's when i was shopping with the old lady and had to get it. I think it make an awesome rear view ornament if i go with a wood grain wheel, maybe drill out a small hole and put it on one of those quick release key chain things. what do you think?

Thinking about one of these wheels. I like them both very much. Really think the old school fat spokes would just fit the look i am going for better tho. Plan to wrap them in some Nitto Neo Gen tires. Crappy tire life but VERY sticky!
  • go with the rewinds. i've always liked them better. mostly because i'm a huge ae86 fan. haha.

Thanks for the input, I was thinking the same thing it has that old feel to them.

What i did today. Paint does not match but hey its basically rust free! Pic of rust is the old door. also when i swapped out the door panel i learned that the window regulator wire thing was rusted into! no wonder the window didnt work hah
  • So tonight I was driving in town with my friend and this guy cuts me off and then almost rear ends the guy in front of me so he swerves hard into the left lane and then that's when I realize there is someone in front of him stopped and he obviously didn't see them so I literally almost did a front wheel stand when I almost pressed the breaks thew the floor board. Needles to say all I could see was the front of my wagon being smashed in but I stopped in time thankfully. That guy got a nice cursing and some hand signals shortly after.

It's hard to see someone almost crunch the car you've put time and effort into, isn't it? Glad you got away without more body damage!
  • me too haha i almost got one years ago local but it was ran down really bad.

I went up to Seattle to look at one maybe two weeks before I got my wagon, but it wouldn't have been worth it. Hachi's will always be my one of my favorites.

    Indeed it is, thanks!
  • A little update. I have not done much more but its been lowered a bit and i have painted my wheels just for the heck of it.
I also removed all the tree sap that was all over the hood and bumper and i had to get new tires because i hit a massive pot hole because i met a car on a bad road and could not go around it and separated two of them :| I also think it loosened up some parts in the front end because it has a little play on the wheel that hit the hardest and makes some great popping and grinding sounds when i drive. i hate pot holes.

  • Now that's an old school wagon. Hope the best with the build. Any ideas as of what plans you have for it? Sucks ya had to hit a massive pothole:( hope it did not cause to much damage.

Thanks for the complements. I don't think it hurt anything that doesn't already really need to be replaced plus the 13" tires are pretty cheap since i work at a tire shop =] The ones it had on it where like 8 years old so it was about that time hah. I gotta check the wheel bearing tomorrow since it sorta sounds like it may be bad. But for the build i wanna go threw the car completely and refresh everything i can get my hands on as close to factory spec as i can as in seats and interior and paint and weather stripping and what not. Possibly air struts at some point? Most likely a B18 swap but i'm not sure yet. It WILL have boost, wheels and just a lot of things over time. It will most likely take me at least two years to finish but i wanna do it right.
