rear fog lights

for those of you with USDM cars that installed rear fogs, how did you do it? like, i mean how did you mount them. i know how and where they are supposed to be but when i looked under the car the bumper area seems really packed in verses the EDM bumper (prolly for better safety). did you have to cut away some metal to mount them? i just dont want to cut a hole in my bumper and discover i cant mount them there

There is cutting involved to the metal bumper support.

This is how I did mine.....

First you pull the bumper cover off the support. If you look closely in the inside of the bumper cover you can see the factory markings where you make your cut to place the fog light. Trace it with a marker and gently make your bumper cover cut.

Once you make your cut. Place the bumper cover back on the support. Now you can see thru the hole you cut where you have to cut the metal bumper support. Trace it with a marker. Pull the bumper cover back off and make your cut on the support. I used an electric saws all.

The rear fogs get mounted to the bumper cover. The fog light housing should come with a bracket that gets pinched to the bumper cover when it gets tighten. That will hold it in place. Screw on fog lght. Run your wiring. Mount bumper back on and your done...

    Hope that helps. Good luck.

To take the bumper cover off you have to pull the whole bumper off with the support. There are 6 bolts inside the spare tire area and 2 screws on each side above where the mudguards go. Unscrew those and the whole bumper will come off.

Then there are 7 to 10 screws holding the bumper cover and the support together. Use a big head phillips screwdriver. These screws tend to rust. I used a good set off grip pliyers. Unscrew those and you can pull the cover off the support.

They were a factory option on all of the RT4WD models - you could choose to have none, one or two. ;)
  • For the JDM market it will have been optional. For the UK and Europe you must have rear fog lights.
