Its back to factory again now and Im on the hunt for some Koni circlip shocks so I can get some extra grooves made to suit the height I want.
I don't really want to go for cert and most WOF places wont/aren't aware that circlip needs cert.
Nothing to major though, but lowering springs just isnt going to achieve what I want.
Had another good drive on the dirt now that its raised again, so fun!
Been a while since a update, not much has happened with the car itself but have gathered some parts for it.
Firstly id like to share some photos of a camping trip me and my girlfriend just went on. I was really looking forward to taking the shuttle on the camping trip, but the night before leaving the car started randomly dieing (switching off while driving). I think it may be caused by a dirty fuel filter which I havent replaced.
Once the car dies and I pull over, crank the car a few times and usually after a min or so it will start back up again.
It dies at low or high speed and maybe 2 or 3 times a day/every 15odd km? Plan is to change the filter tomorrow and continue to monitor it.
So, ther shuttle is out of the trip. sadfacesadfacesadface.
My old man very nicely offered his Hilux ute to take to the trip, which was pretty sweet.
On our 2 week trip we stopped at one/if not the biggest car wreckers in New Zealand.
In a little town called Horopito, a hour south of taupo in NZ, is a wreckers called Smash palace. This place is amazing. I loved it.
Sadly I only had about 2 hours and I barely got through 1/4 of the stuff. Im planning to head back and spend a day or 2 there to have a good rummage.
Firstly a Arial shot.
This place is huge, cerial.
Within the wreckers there is a few large warehouses which is full of parts. Top to bottom.
... and some shots from outside.
These shitty point and shoot photos does not do this place justice, this is maybe 1/4 of it.
Im planning to head back soon to stay there a full day or two. I love wreckers and this place is heaven to me.
In the short time I was there, I sadly didnt find anything Ef shuttle related.
Although I did find a set of 3 piece Volk Rays Mesh in 4x114.3 15x6, still need to measure offset.
I dont have a vehicle to fit them, but I enjoy refurbing wheels so this will be another side project.
Also while on our trip I picked up some parts from seller that I have bought.
Firstly some Ef sedan Honda Rubber mats, fits near perfect in the shuttle.
Only photo at the moment sorry.
And I have bought some wheels.
My aim for any of my cars iv had is for them to be period correct.
Even tough Beagles were made up to the mid 90s, I wanted my beagle to reflect the mid to late 80s that the Ef civic generated from.
These next 2 photos are images I have had in my mind as inspiration for the shuttle and where I would like the car to end up...
The wheels I decided to buy was a set of SSR Jilba Racing wheels.
They are a 3piece mid 80s wheel thats welded from factory and are 4x100, 14x6 +12 (iirc)
Currently plan is to sort of the dieing/stalling problem then start refurbing the SSRs back to their former glory.
In the mean time Im looking at some more suitable suspension options for the shuttle, nothing set in stone at this stage though.
Allllsoo, finally got my ek9 back from the repairers.
Feels amazing driving it again, I love this car.
Last two pictures of cars in the wrecker yard are skylines, the R30/31 are super common, the older 240k 4door are super super rare and pretty much all very rusty unless have been restored
Have had a issue with the car recently. I mentioned it a few posts ago but basically the car died after about 10mins of driving.
I asked around for some help and explained the symptoms, most came back pointing towards the main relay. I decided to resolder the main relay although the car still had the issue.
Geoff/SIRge offered to help so I popped over to his place. We changed main relays to one Geoff had spare, although this also didnt solve the issue.
We then checked fuel pressure, which was fine, but discovered there was no spark. Geoff had a spare dizzy so we swapped it and the car seems to be running fine now. Thanks for the help Geoff, top lad!
While I was at Geoff's, I picked up a few parts.
Grabbed a broadway curved mirror. I can now see so much of the rear of the car, a lot nicer.
My drivers seat bolster was quite worn so I grabbed the passenger seat out of the Beagle Geoff is wrecking, Geoff's drivers was quite worn as well hence why I took the passenger. To the left is my seat and to the right the new one from Geoff. Still a bit of damage on Geoffs seat but a lot less and a simpler spot to repair, most likely going to use the material from my seat to fix it up.
Now that im running a passenger seat in the drivers area, the upper seat adjuster is on the inside of the car and the seat doesnt have the balloon-like pump that is there to support the drivers back, only drivers seats have these. Although, my drivers seat now also has the storage pocket in the back like my original passenger seat, which is pretty sweet.
Need to give both the front seats a good clean still as they are filthy, but otherwise im pretty happy.
Also grabbed some of the rear storage compartment doors as I had none, yet again from Geoff.
They are faded quite bad due to the lovely NZ sun, but not damaged at all.
And made myself a dash matt, alot nicer now that I can put items there and they done slide around.
Thats pretty much it. While the shuttles been out of order if been driving my ek9 which has been great, but im quite exited to get back in to the shuttle.
Looks mint man. Have you thought about patching the seats with some sort of coloured material? Can look pretty cool
Cant remeber who. But some one on nzh did it in their shuttle
The material iron on patches worked well for me to patch the holes in my seats and have held up fine over the past year. Check my build thread for pics.

Havnt seen the one on NZH?
But the fellow below has done his as well as the current wagon of the month (knotty?) has. Does look good.
I'm going to give it a go with material from my other seats first and if it doesn't end well/I stuff it up then will most likely do the patches.

Yep have had a wonder through your thread, the seats did come out tidy. Don't mind the patches at all, haven't really looked around to see whats available in NZ to be honest. Your wagon is very nice, love what you have done with it.
So have been doing a bit of maintenance on the car, just continue cleaning and fixing a few things.
I went to the wreckers and found another pair of the rear interior storage doors that are in better condition that my current ones (although not much) and also another pair of rear storage units which are in much better condition to what I currently have.
(left new, right old)
While I installed them I found some water in both my rear lights.
Wasnt to much bad but rather not have any water (quick few pics of the left light, right hand side was the same)
Iv cleaned all the water out and resealed the lights as well as the gasket, so shouldn't have any more leaking issues now.
While I was at the wreckers I grabbed a few more parts.
New air vent as my old one's fins were damaged.
New front lip, I believe this is an OEM pre facelift Ef Sir Lip.
Plan is to clean it up and colour match it to the silver of the beagle, I will run this lip while I have the bull bars off.
Also finally cleaned by 2 front seats.
Top is clean, bottom still dirty.
And seats back in again, with some wooden bead seat covers.
Next is to clean the rear seats.
And as per my previous post, the new center console from a eg8 I believe.
There is a slight colour difference and the fitment is not 100% perfect.
But overall I'm happy with it, it looks like its meant to be there and is a subtle change to the interior.
At the time when I got the center console I wasnt able to find the matching rear ash tray, so I ended up getting one out of a dc2, although its black.
If you remember in my earlier post I showed some paint chipping off near the rear door trims.
Repainted them today to prevent any more paint chipping off or rust.
Also made some rear interior curtains today. They are originally out of a Toyota Estima, I just shortened the rail to fit and slightly changed the mounts.
The curtain colour matches the interior and fits in quite nicely, nothing over the top and a sweet mod for $5.
The rail is mounted to the top of the roof and the curtains also run on a wire at the bottom, mounted on the end of the cargo cover, so the curtains can slide open and closed without flapping around if the windows are open. Photo's don't really do them justice, but will get some better photos asap.
Also bought some roof racks as well as a cargo basket, roof racks installed but still waiting on the cargo basket.
I like the curtains, i was looking into doing something similar to that on the rear side windows.. seats cleaned up nice as well.
Cheers, this was the second time around I cleaned the seats.
First time around I used a vacume washer type thing although it didnt do much, so next I used a waterblaster which worked perfect.
as a double check on the water behind the tail lights, check the body sealer up near your rear door hinges. If you want, pull the rear most trim holding up the roof liner and check the metal just under/around the hinges. It's super common for the sealer to dry out and crack and leak through or near the hinges. My current 91 RT is suffering from this. I thought the gaskets would fix it, no dice, gonna have to grind out and replace the body sealer for a legit fix. In the meantime, threw up some weird glue I had and it seems to have slowed it down a ton
Love the car, super jealous of those storage pieces in the back

Love your EK9 too! I bet you missed driving that thing!
were those old skylines in some pics ?

I'm looking for some rear storage units, my lids on them are in terrible shape, please pm me if you decide to sell them
Thanks

Yep Ill most probably sell the left over parts, such as the storage units. Will Pm you.

Your getting to old. All the kids these days use fisheye lenses.
Fish eye doesn't not equal hipster Instagram filters. Who's the old one now?
my wheels turned up today
